74-41 win over Samford clinched 2nd in conference!!
And they came close to beating the first place Mercer team on their home court in the previous game. This is a very young team with only 1 senior. Plus they are peaking at the right time. They have a very solid chance to win the SoCon championship. I assume that will silence the Jackie Carson critics on the board.

SoCon's women's basketball has been quite the opposite of the men this year - it's one of the weakest conferences in the country. From a national standpoint, this year's women's team is in basically the same spot the program has been in for 6 years.

As I've said before though, I think Carson is doing pretty well given the context (resources, conference, etc.).

Looks like the makeup of a fun weekend in Asheville. I think both teams are now favorites in every game except the final. Those of you who can make it will have fun! I've never seen a Furman SoCon Tourney BB champ in my time as an FU fan.

Keep in mind, you would have to be 39 to have even been born the last time the Furman men won a tourney title, and unless you're a prodigy, to remember it you would have to be mid-40s.

The women advance to the Championship game! Congrats ladies! Hopefully there's a large crowd in Asheville Saturday to cheer them on.
That's how you finish a game! Excellent timeout and regroup by Coach Carson with a few minutes left and UTC going on a run. Beat Mercer!

Beat Chattanooga 73-67 and will play Mercer at 12 p.m. Sunday. Mercer is in its fourth title game in five years in the league. Congrats to the Paladins!

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
