#6 is the stuff of dreams. Who among us as a little boy didn't fantasize on the hoop in the driveway about hitting the game winner as time expires to get that 11th "true" road win.

Magical.
Just goes to show how much harder the little guys have to work than the bigger schools. Clemson literally PLAYED 11 "true" road games this year. 5-6 in those games I might add.

Yeah, going into Cameron and the Carrier Dome and playing at USC-Spartanburg and Elon are equivalent. ;)

Touting these silly "achievements" is demeaning.

That's your opinion. I think that says a ton about a program that they can consistently go on the road and pick up wins, regardless of the opponent. You bring up Upstate and Elon, but fail to mention wins at Villanova and in front of a packed house at Loyola. Can always find a negative if you go searching for one.

Pretty stupid take. Sure, #6 was kinda weak, but there's nothing "demeaning" about having one of the strongest SoCon teams in the past 20 years. If your standard is that Furman can only brag on twitter once they are better than Duke, well, there wouldn't be much point to the twitter account, or to even fielding a team for that matter.

Agreed. I can't understand Fessor's take to be honest. We have virtually no basketball history since the 1970s, so it makes complete sense that we celebrate small victories and steps forward, especially on social media where content is king and can make anything relevant. These small achievements can be in the form of a home winning streak, "true" road wins, a national ranking, leading the conference in whatever random stat, etc. Those are noteworthy and worthy of celebration considering where we have come from. I would love for there to be a day when some of these aren't mentioned because we are consistently ranked in the top 20 or beat a big team on the road every year, but until that happens I see no reason to not point out whatever we can.

Boasting about "true" road wins - other than just being pathetic - says more than anything "Hey, no one invited us to play in a pre-season or holiday tournament on a neutral court."

Was this twitter flotsam generated by the same FU group that called Wofford a "cross town rival"?

What esoteric metric comes next? "6th fewest backcourt turnovers among "true" liberal arts colleges"?

Give me a break.

Dream season, exciting team, good kids, rejuvenated community support. Finished third in a competitive SoCon. Best shot in years to win the bid and go dancing. Hopefully the administration is paying attention to the ROI in Men's BB and increases the "I".

Just stop posting to save some brain cells, Fessor...doing you a favor with that comment...his post is true in most seasons...but not a historic one...don’t come here and post crap like that now...where were you in 2008?
Where were you in '75? Did you even go to Furman?

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
