Mercer not coming into the tournament with much momentum. They lost at home to UNCG 74-47 today. That followed a 13 point loss at VMI on Thursday. They had won 3 of 4 games right before these last two, however. The week off before the tournament probably came at the right time for them.
Makes them very dangerous.

You cannot take anyone for granted. There is no pressure on Mercer. There is pressure on us because we are the favorite.
We need to get an early lead and never let them in the game!!

GO FURMAN
I'm always prone to be surprised, but I haven't seen much from a Coach Richey-led team to think that they will allow anyone to sneak up on them.

If Furman shows up with clear mind, fresh legs and plays with Furman energy shouldn't be a game. Anything else all bets off, this is tourney time. Gotta battle for 40 min and even 15 mins half. Take no prisoners! Go Dins.
Bob Richey is a super game coach. Advantage Paladins in the battle of the Bob coaches.

Against UNCG on Saturday, Mercer went 11:44 without scoring a single FG - from 6:47 remaining in the 1st half thru 15:03 remaining in the 2nd half. Unless Cummings goes completely crazy from beyond 3, this game should be a walkover.

I could be eating my words Saturday night, but I absolutely love this bracket for Furman. We've controlled Mercer for two games, were in both games with UNCG, winning one, and would get Wofford in the finals. Also, we would have consistent time slots (8:30ish, 6:30ish, 7) as opposed to Wofford, who would be playing at noon, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Small advantages, but I'll take anything in a tournament with this much at stake.

Don’t count out playing Samford on Sunday. By the way, coaches hate the Saturday evening time slot. By the time the team gets back to the hotel and winds down, it’s probably after 2:00 a.m. before sleep time arrives.

You can bet your bottom dollar nothing close to this will happen Saturday night. I expect Mercer to give us all we want. If we win it will not be easy. Count on it. Remember we have not shot well all year after a week off.
