Where Furman Softball ranks compared to certain other schools
(for info on where my list of "certain other schools" comes from, see post #86803, April 1, 2024, 2:08 pm, in the thread titled "Roster Collapse, under the section "Furman Sports: Basketball")
UTC 85
UNCG 122
*Gardner-Webb 115
*Charleston Southern 123
*Furman 150
Mercer 175
Samford 200
*Wofford 221
WCU 238
*Colgate 240
*Bucknell 243
ETSU 252
*Presbyterian 279
*Holy Cross 299
*Lafayette 303
*VMI 9999 no team
*Davidson 9999 no team
+Citadel 9999 no team
So 18 teams in the above list, including Furman.
The 18 are Furman and FCS schools that are similar in size to Furman or all SoCon school(s including non-FCS UNCG) or both (VMI and Wofford).
3 of the 18 do not have Softball.
Bottom line is that as of this ranking of 15 Softball schools, Furman is currently number 5 in the comparative rankings.
The schools with * are from the above-mentioned post of April 1, 2024, #86803 ( ... no April Fools here, ha).
They (*) are schools Furman may choose to focus on because they are the only Division I schools that are FCS and that are similar in student enrollment size to Furman. The others that have no * before their names are SoCon schools that are much larger in student enrollment than Furman, except for Citadel which is much larger but is here marked + because they are Citadel.
