Softballers opened by getting throttled 2 games by ECU. Same ol same ol. At least baseball was somewhat competitive, softball, not so much.

Came in second in Socon in 2016 and 2017 were 41-15 in 2018. Had a rough 2019 and never played a Socon game in 2020. The only “same ol “is apaladin and his take on everything.

With recent developments, can the baseball players come back, identify as female, and ‘man’ the Softball Team?

Just askin’

One would think so.
If any formerly male former Furman baseball players, & any other formerly male baseball players - if they happen to be competent enough to make the Furman softball team & have now sincerely & believably identified as female - then I see no reason why or how it could be prohibited.

How do you determine sincerity? That test could be used to deny a lot of young men their rights as women. Couldn’t they just feel sort of femmed out on game days and relapse into toxic masculinity in between games (or in the locker room)? Who’s to say?

Previous regimes was all pitching and D but no hitting. Score were 1-0, 2-0 etc

New regime is hitting but not so much on D and pitching

Believability?
The coach; AD; other appropriate school official; doctor; government administrative agency official; possibly judicial system official (i.e., judge); and/or some combination; would be “who’s to say”.
It is not something impossible.
It was brought up “in jest” (I believe), but I believe also that it should not be ridiculed.

Yes it should definitely be ridiculed by anyone with a microgram of common sense.

Not brought up in jest.

I believe this is the law of our land now, except, perhaps, in North Dakota High/Middle Schools.

So, as somewhat of a fan of Girls/Women’s Athletics and of Furman Athletics, I am curious as to how the law, which reimagines previous laws against discrimination based on an individual’s sex to now include an individual’s “gender identity,” may be practically applied in Girls/Women’s Athletics, in general, and at Furman, specifically; particularly in light of recent elimination of 2 Men’s Programs at Furman, while complementary Girls/Women’s Sports remain in existence at Furman.

I did not see a ‘test’ of ‘sincere gender identity’ prescribed in the recent Executive Order. Perhaps affirm did or is aware of an addendum providing for such. It would seem logical that such tests would be highly subjective & most likely, lead to endless & expensive lawsuits filed by any Student Athlete who claims to identify as a female and then to have their right to participate on a Girls/Women’s Sports Team denied.

Glad it wasn’t brought up in jest. Congratulations.
I apologize for inferring it possibly in jest.
I am aware it is the law.

Nope - nothing funny about the potential effects this could have on Girls/Women’s Sports, the Athletes currently participating in those sports, and the schools sponsoring them.

Serious issue.
Interesting to learn that Converse now is co-ed and is starting men’s sports and becoming Converse University. Interesting that they are planning to also keep some programs or initiatives or traditions only for females.

Serious issue that is hard to take serious because the whole idea is laughably stupid. And it’s coming from the “follow the science” crowd which makes it even more stupid.

But it is serious because of the harm it will do to girls. Real harm. Some of us think that athletics are just as important for girls as boys. Probably more important. I coach a very mediocre tennis team. My girls start too late to ever be college level players. But being on that dang team and winning matches is sort of life changing for some of them, more so than I would have believed. The biggest threat to girls is low self esteem, sports help with that.

And then the feds step in with something that can ruin girls’ sports and really just mocks them. The fact that this is so dismissive of the concerns of female athletes is what pisses me off. There’s a who cares it’s just girls element to it. Well at NAHS we are heading for our 5th straight 4A basketball title and we will field a top contender for softball as well. We’re usually pretty damn good at golf too. Our girls are more serious than our boys.

Hopefully we can get an away football game there. Home and home if we are lucky.

Is Converse going to have a baseball team. Bet they do.
