Fine. Think what you want. Just consider that people of color (not all obviously, but certainly a giant majority) specifically have laid out why they don't want people to say they don't see color. If you want to discount what they say because you don't agree with it that's on you. But me personally I'm going to listen and learn from people with lived experience.

In this case, what you think does not matter. It is about what the person of color is thinking. Again that person what they think of that phrase before you say it.
I don't mean to imply that I think black people have gotten a fair shake in this country. They certainly have not. And improvements need to be made and are being made. A color blind society is something to shoot for but realistically, we all know it may not ever be completely achieved.
But we've got a double standard now. Just read about this idiot on the Phil Eagles that tweeted anti semitic drivel. When called out he has apologized, said he didn't mean it, was a poor choice of words, etc., and that is fine. He should be forgiven and we all move on.
But if he had been white and said things like that about black people, he would have been tarred and feathered by the Media, hung out to dry, career ruined, and shot at sunrise!

I for one will admit that I’m not keen on AA. I went through several lay-offs at a fed facility that used a strict numerical “diversity profile”. Eventually my group ran low on middle aged white males, so it was my turn to go after 20 plus years. The people leaving had very technical advanced degrees. Those staying didn’t. If I had only done ancestry.com dna a little sooner I’d still have that job, dang it (probably descended from the actual 1619 guys). Friends of mine were able to parley Cherokee great grandma’s into promotions.
