A little off topic but was just wondering about something. How can PC get teams like Notre Dame and UConn to come to Clinton for a 3 game weekend series and we settle for the Northern Kentucky’s of the world? Nothing against Northern Kentucky.
In the case of Notre Dame, they have a first-year HC (from UNCG actually) and are looking to turn a program around. I bet they reached out to PC, offering to come to their place (maybe new coach has connection with PC staff) with no return series in hopes of playing a bad team with a decent shot to sweep. That worked out well for them. For PC, it's a no brainer. Get a big name to your place. If you lose, you were supposed to. If you win, it's at least talked about nationally among the college baseball community for a hot second.
Furman, meanwhile, has a coach that needs to pile up wins to keep job. Getting swept at home by a big school is not helpful to that goal. Beating La Salle and NKU is helpful, but that plan got off course severely this weekend. I bet if we had reached out to ND first, they would have come to Furman instead. Believe they stayed in Greenville rather than closer to Clinton.
