It is not good when you are almost to the end of the season and do not know who your best 5 players are, which generally is synonymous with your 5 starters.

Smith
Anderson
Bowser
?
?

Don’t know how anyone could be encouraged about the remainder of this year nor optimistic about next year.

Disappointing!!

12-1 OOC with some solid wins....

Currently 6-6 in the SoCon with 6 games to go..... (Gotta figure something out fast lol)

SoCon tournament still to go......

Probably going to win 20+ games and still a lot to play for this year.....

Gotta figure some things out with the roster this offseason for sure, what that is will be up tp CBR.........

Figure out how to use Johnston and House for next year as they return. Play Humphries and Molnar more.

Didn't see Molnar yesterday. Is he ill?

My question is: Can’t free-throw success *in a game* be coached?

CBR notes that “it’s all mental” - and he further comments that the guys “make free throws all day in practice” - and that’s the end of the discussion.

Isn’t there some specialty coach or drill that should be adopted to get over this? It’s becoming a joke.

Molnar played only 2 minutes, Johnston started but only played 5 minutes(1-1 from 3) so something is up with both of them. Outside of PJSJR and NA no one else on the team has stepped up and been consistent. Captain obvious.

The 6-6 record includes 3 blowout losses, 3 wins againt the two worst teams with 2 of those going to OT and 2 blown wins. Not good any way you slice it. On top of that the SoCon just has some mediocre teams. No really good teams. The SoCon was there for the taking and this team could not get it done. Very disappointing this team is not in contention in such a weak league. Face it, we were all thinking we were not as good as our gawdy ooc record. We were right.

No reason not to finish 5-1. Sammy will b tough away game. woffy is basically a home revenge game

that would get them on a positive vib going into tourney probably as 5th or 6th seed

There have been years when it was felt that if the Team won a couple games (much less win it) it would be a minor miracle

Not with this team. It wouldnt surprise if the Team won the tourney. And likely expectations would be to win at least 2 games. Only if (big if) everyone plays to their potential

1st up...Merc

At Samford and at Wofford are 99% losses. Four home games, Mercer, UNCG, VMI and Citadel. Need to go at least 3-1 in those 4 home games to avoid the play-in game. 9-9. It would shock most everyone if this team won in A’ville. Way too inconsistent to win 3 or 4 in a row.

We cannot even play a consistent half much less a complete game.

The chance of us winning the tourney is 1 in a million. All other teams have to do is cover our two guys desperately looking to shoot.

It helps that no teams in the conference are really strong this year.

Still a big CBR fan. We just don’t have the talent this year.

I’ll put dollar on Furman winning the Tourney. Assume you’ll take the other side?

After going just 5–13 in conference play (8-21 overall) to finish in last place, the Paladins won three games in the Southern Conference tournament before losing by 3 points in the finals to top-seeded Wofford (28-6 overall).

I didn’t give up on that team and not giving up on this year either.

Then you get a year like 2020-21
3 close OOC losses to top opponents. Per Kenpom top team in the league.

Bothwell, Gurley, Hunter, Slawson, Mounce, Foster

And lose to VMI in the first round

So anything can happen

List of some teams we HAVE beaten:
19-6 Samford
17-8 Belmont
16-6 Princeton
15-9 Jacksonville
15-10 ETSU
14-11 FGCU
13-11 Tulane

We have also held second half leads in 3 of our last 4 SoCon losses (UTC, @ETSU, @UTC)

We are capable, just got to put it all together!

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
