#1 Kansas Game-Plan

Do we "pack the paint" and dare 'em to shoot the three?

I recall CBR mused about employing that strategy when he was looking back on the San Diego State. I don't recall what SDSU's three-point stats were, but #1 Kansas's long-range stats are pretty good: they're averaging seven three's/game at 36% (though we're averaging nearly twelve/game at 41%).

Their only "weakness" (if you can call it that) is their depth. They've got eight(8) guys with nearly all the minutes (compared with our twelve). If we can just play the 1st half like we did against Auburn - stay within striking distance - then we run the devil out of them the second half. Would at least give them a good show.

Other ideas?

I think we'll have to use Johnston a lot more against Kansas, We got killed on the O boards last night against Seattle. I thought Seattle really held our guards in check, but this opened up getting the ball to Bowser when they got double teamed. Need to see a lot more penetration from our guards for foul opportunities to get their big men in foul trouble and points on the line. I'd rather see them beat us with 3's than easy buckets down low if we play a smaller lineup.

Hmmm. This would require us to actually make free-throws. Not a strength. But to your point, we could employ Duke's strategy to marginalize Dickinson: taunt him into a flagrant-2 and he gets himself ejected.
