hope they play this like an NFL pre-season game. Fosters plays first 5 mins to get some PT and then sits the rest of the game
VMI should be a W. No need to risk anything. Foster is much more needed vs Sam

If Marcus is available and is at full strength, play him. He needs the minutes to get his playing legs ready for Western on Saturday.

CBR in today's presser: "He's going to play."

Not only play but start. The way CBR talked I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets 25+ minutes.

Quick overview of VMI -
Pomeroy ranks them 355 of 362.
They are 3-14 and have not won a D1 game this season. They lost at Wofford by 2 points in OT. That was their smallest D1 defeat. They lost to Presbyterian and South Dakota by 4 each. In their last three games they lost at home to Mercer by 22, and on the road to Chattanooga by 48 and to Samford by 38.
Their leading scorer is 5'11' Brennan Watkins. He averages 15 ppg. 6'2" Tyran Cook averages about 13. Koree Cotton, 6'6" averages about 12 and 6'6" Taeshaud Jackson scores about 8 ppg and leads in rebounding with about 10 rpg.
Only 3 players on their roster aren't listed as guards. They have some three point shooters. Three of their regulars are hitting between 38-40%, Watkins hits 40%.
Team stats are poor but the one that really stands out is turnovers. VMI is by far the worst in the league with almost 6 more TOs per game than their opponents. They are above the Paladins in one category. VMI is next to worst in FG% allowed. Furman is worst.

I updated the VMI advance at the top of this column this morning to reflect Marcus Foster's definite return. It was a situation where Bob's media session was at 2 p.m. I had to cover high school games last night, and there wasn't enough time to write the advance between the two. So I wrote the advance Monday night and late last night, when I got back from the prep games and was writing about them, I forgot to update the advance. -- MD

Bizarre stat line: with less than 3 to go in 1st half, Pegues one Asst & one Rebound, else 0 for 0. FU up by 15.

Game should not be in doubt but let them hang around. Better put them away early in the second half. What’s up with JP.!0assed up a lot good shots. Only shot one last shot of the half. Thank goodness VMI is awful, big crowd tonight with the plebes, probably over 200 counting them.

Some sloppy ball handling/passing first 20 minutes. Benefited from 3’s. Out of character for us, we’ve been beaten down the court several times. Marcus not in the flow so far.
