2023 vs. 2024

2023 to tell you the truth really could not have been better for us Paladin fans even though it ended with a thud. The only 2 major sports were highly successful. Both won outright championships and advanced in national tournaments.
2023 was unprecedented but can it be duplicated in 2024? Obviously the answer is no or at least unlikely.
Basketball: Even though we knew the high hopes/expectations were not realistic we had them and were still hopeful hearing all the preseason hype. The out of conference portion of the schedule was certainly very disappointing. The first time a CBR team has finished with a losing record. The debacle Saturday is very concerning. If there were any hopes left they are now gone. Or are they? IF this team can get healthy can it finish at or near the top of the conference? I would say if healthy we have a shot at a top 4 finish but goodness everyone has got to get better and elevate their game.
Football: Certainly a season like none other with such a veteran team that we will never see again. With huge losses CCH has a big job in frint of him. We will go from one of the most veteran/experienced teams in the country to one of the youngest/least experienced. With that said the cupbored is not bare with some returning talent and supposedly a lot of unseen young talent. Of course the biggest shoes to fill will be at quarteback. Is CJ as good as he looked against VMI or as bad as he looked against WC? Big question mark. Is he the heir apparent or will there be a battle come February?
Can these 2 programs repeat the success of 2023 in 2024? Highly unlikely but we have a chance. Like I said 2023 was a great year like no other so we need to be prepared for some bumps in the road in 2024 IMHO. For no other reasons than all the amazing talent both programs have lost. 2024 certainly will be a different year for sure. Happy New Year to all!!
