Great defensive intensity against a good Wofford team last night. Never really allowed them in the game from the gitgo. A few of our younger players are blossoming at the right time. Williams is on his way to stardom - great hustle and skills. Peques is turning into a really fine guard. Whitt is showing great court awareness and penetration skills. Needs to learn how to "finish". Vanderwal has it all. Could turn into a star. Size, hustle, athleticism, etc. Needs to knock down the corner 3 with more consistency.
We have a clear weakness at the 5 hole that will hurt us against better competition. I don't know if it is solvable. BUT - we have two 6'10'' guys on the roster who do not play at all. Lawrence doesn't even dress anymore and Repass at 6'10" - 250 lbs. never sees the court. What's with that? Joe Anderson has been a contributing part of the rotation for the past few years and has also completely disappeared. Anyone know why?

I think I read somewhere that Anderson is battling a shoulder injury

Lawrence has been hurt all year. Repass is being redshirted. I trust Coach Richey with the decisions he has made with the rotation. After all, what he is doing is working.

I think Respass will provide a pleasant surprise next year. He will be a bigger force for us than we expect right now.

Glad Hien hit his 4 FT’s yesterday and hit a 3 from the top of the key. We really need him to step up and play like he is capable of if we want to make it to the NCAA tourney.
Pegues seems to have become more consistent with the 3 game-to-game now than Foster who hits 5 one game and zero the next.
Glad Alex is playing more.

We need to say “make it in the tourney” (win games) to just “make it TO the tourney”. Better set higher goals than just “to the tourney”.

I am not necessarily questioning his decisions. God forbid. Although we may have different thoughts on what “working” means. I am simply asking questions. Lawrence has been here 3 years I believe and has hardly played a lick. Anderson was a solid part of the rotation for over 2 seasons and now does not play at all. Don’t you find that odd? It may just be that Witt’s improvement has reduced his PT. He may be hurt. I did not know Repass was being red shirted. Was that announced? Whether this season is a success or not seems to be predicated on what happens in Asheville in March to most fans I think

You must not read this board often, all of this info has been discussed many many times during the season ie. Repass and Molnar being redshirted, Lawrence being hurt yet again and Anderson being replaced by Whitt in rotation due to combination of struggling and injuries.

Earlier in the year I would have said Bothwell. But now I say Slawson. He does so many things beyond scoring. And he does plenty of scoring.

My thought as well, Slawson's length on defense and rim protection are huge. His reputation is well known now, I always find it funny when a player see's him coming in for the block and decides against driving all the way to the basket, they know what's coming
Plus he's shooting 3's really solid now, that makes him deadly with his pump fake and drive for the slam!

FWIW, my definition of working is 6 straight wins and wins in 9 out of the last 10 games. Plus, the team is playing together as a unit during this time. You can see that it is working by watching the difference in play in the second half of the season.

Fair enough and all those things are true. With the emergence of some of the younger players they are certainly meeting that bar. Credit should certainly be given to CBR for that player development. Since I played for a man that is a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach, I guess I have a higher bar in evaluating coaching performance - a banner counter perhaps

Bob Richey is 39 years old, time is still on his side
