I'm curious to know why Joe Anderson has been given so little playing time. He had 2 pretty good seasons, but they've sort of phased him out.

The answer is pretty straight forward, on defense teams are attacking him and its hurting our overall defense, also many times he appears afraid to take open shots, that's basically a double liability

LOL - FUBeAR assumed FurmanBball was just a slightly less creative FU Hoopla disciple.
Why contain yourself to only 1 thread per topic when it’s so easy to start 6?

Its certainly a way to get a point across, I could probably learn a thing or two from this one

Definitely noticing a dropoff in productivity from Anderson. Last year, he was pretty electrifying, you could hear students shouting "FEED JOE!" so he could bury a three. This year there's no energy when he takes the floor, and I personally inwardly groan when he attempts a three. I hope things pick back up for him.

Probably not if Whitt keeps playing well

Last year I think Anderson shot 40% + from 3 point range. This year he not only has not shot well, but does not appear to be looking for his shot. My guess is that this has resulted in him getting less playing time.

Last year he shot 47% from 3, 32% this year. His assist to turnover ratio was 3 to 1 last year, this year it’s 1 to 1.

His hair is shorter this year than last season. I think it affected his game.

Part of the issue is he hasn't been quite as productive in the shooting and assists on offense as stated above and his defense against a bigger guard can be a problem, although Joe has been able to offset that in the past with his quickness, savvy, and hustle.
The other thing is the emergence of Carter Whitt, who hasn't been playing much either until last night. He had his best game of the season. He really played under control having 0 turnovers in 22 minutes. Then he made a good drive for a basket late in the game and hit that 3 pointer that put the nail in the coffin for UTC.
I look for Whitt to be a factor in the rotation going forward which will make it tough for J. Anderson to get PT.
I think Anderson can still help us especially late in games where we have the lead and need another reliable ball handling guard.
