I was hoping Carter would really help us. Seems to struggle on defense and too many turnovers. Now he has a pulled hamstring. May be next year before he adjusts to our system.

If he doesn’t transfer,I suspect he could be the heir apparent to MB.

Wouldn’t he have to sit out a year if he transferred again?

Yes I believe that is correct however it is ever changing. I know there was/is a proposal to eliminate any penalties for multiple transfers.

I don’t see Whitt as being able to fill Bothwell’s shoes.

He doesn't need to - totally different type of player. He brings a skillet to the team that no one else on the roster has - ELITE ball handling and passing. Assuming he gets healthy and figures out enough of our schemes, I still hold out hope he can contribute this year.
Look back at the NC State tape - we only had one person on the team getting to the rim (and finishing) consistently during their minutes. In a tournament situation against a P5 we're going to need that.

I like his penetration ability and he seems to have a decent shooting touch. Needs to play in control though.

Every year we lose a player or players to graduation. We say, "Nobody can replace them." It was said of Alex Hunter, Jordan Lyons, Matt Rafferty, Clay Mounce, and on and on and on. New players come in with different skill sets and they blend in. JP Pegues isn't Alex Hunter, but he offers his own set of skills to the team. And the team builds upon a new set of skills offered by each player. That's the job of the coaches; to mold the team together for the best results. So far, they've done a pretty good job. Being able to recognize each player's strengths and weaknesses is why we have coaches. Ours seem, at least to this novice observer, to be pretty good at it.

apaladin, you literally speculated that he may transfer… Great vote of confidence.

I wasn’t speculating anything, I said IF, which is possible for anyone on the roster these days. I also said he could be the replacement for MB next year.

I honestly want to see Carter Whitt play backup PG for the remainder of the season
