The Furman men's and women's basketball teams will take center court at the inaugural "HOOPS KNIGHT," scheduled for Thursday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Timmons Arena in partnership with The Fan Upstate.

All Furman students in attendance will be entered to participate in on-court promotions that could win them official team gear and prizes. Additionally, there will be four separate opportunities for Furman students to participate in competitions offering a cash prize of $10,000.00 per contest, totaling over $40,000.00 of cash and prizes potentially distributed during the evening.

This free and action-packed event will give students, fans, and alumni the opportunity to get an early look at coach Bob Richey and coach Jackie Carson's squads before they tip-off their 2022-23 campaigns.

Furman
It's been a heavy theme for about five years in Greenville, South Carolina: The Paladins haven't made the NCAA Tournament since before the field expanded to 64 teams. The year: 1980. Yet for five seasons this team has been either first, second or third in the SoCon. Last season, Furman was booted from its auto-bid launching pad after Chattanooga hit a buzzer-beater in overtime of the conference title game. Shattering. But: Bob Richey is a promising young coach who should have the SoCon's top group thanks to super seniors Mike Bothwell and Jalen Slawson. The third cog is the other returning starter, wing Marcus Foster. He's physical and can be called upon to hit a good shot in a tough spot.

No dunk contest
No 3 pt challenge
No skills challenge
No scrimmage.
Moderately attended. It started later than 7:30, I'm assuming, because they wanted more people to arrive.
Some cheerleaders doing cheerleading stuff. What felt like 15 minutes of player introductions, then...
Just some games, as in 5 different games, for students to participate in and that was it.
Left feeling disappointed.
All build-up, no bang.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
