Three players who were Furman offers in high school were drafted in the NBA first round this year. I don't remember this last time that happened. Normally our coaches don't chase players that highly recruited.

Devin Vessell was picked #11 by the Spurs. He is a 6'5" guard from Georgia who went to Florida State. The Paladins were one of only five teams to offer him when he committed to FSU.
Aaron Nesmith was the #14 pick by the Celtics. He is from South Carolina (Charleston area), and was an AAU teammate of Jalen Slawson. We offered early but he had about 40 offers by the time he chose Vanderbilt.
Desmond Bane was the final (#30) pick and was also picked by the Celtics, although he was apparently traded immediately to the Grizzlies. Furman was the first D1 team to offer him and he came in for an official visit. Bane is from Indiana and ended up waiting until the Spring. He picked up more offers and signed with TCU and played four years. Vessell and Nesmith went pro after only two years.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
