Apparently Rodriquez is hurt for ETSU. They also had to break up a near fight on their bench in the Mercer loss. My money is on UNCG.

ETSU beat UNCG in Greensboro earlier so they may get some confidence from that. UNCG has 6'8 senior Kyrin Galloway back in the starting lineup after he missed five games with an injury, which should be a boost for them..

I think ETSU has more weapons - they have three players averaging double figures and seven players averaging more than 7.5 ppg. UNCG has one player in double figures and five with 7.5 ppg or better. UNCG relies on defense. They are 7th in the country in scoring defense and have the two top shot blockers in the SoCon. They lead in the conference in FG% defense. On the other hand they are last in 3pt. FG% shooting and FT% shooting and next to last in FG% shooting.

Other interesting matchups - Mercer will probably win their 6th straight game before coming here next week. They play the Citadel at home. Western Carolina is at Chattanooga. They and Mercer are tied at 5-4 in the conference. Six teams get byes in the SoCon tournament and seven teams are currently are 5-4 or better.

Who to pull for? ETSU or UNCG?
Too early to tell. We have to go on the road to both places so no potential advantage either way.

ETSU fell behind by 14 early today but tied the game by halftime and ETSU leads by 3 with about 14 minutes left.

Western Carolina with a big win at Chattanooga by 3.

UPDATE -
ETSU leads by 4 with 10 minutes left. UNCG's James Dickey with 4 fouls.
Mercer leads the Citadel 31-22 at the half.

Credit ETSU for battling back in first half, then taking control in 2nd half.

The Citadel made it tough but Mercer prevailed 76-71. The game was tied briefly with about 6 minutes to go. Both teams shot the ball well overall and from the three point line but the Citadel killed themselves by missing 10 free throws (10-20)

Absolutely ETSU, simply because we have beaten ETSU and will likely go 0-2 against UNCG. With ETSU's win today it will be very hard for UNCG to win the regular season as they are now 0-2 against ET giving ET a 2 game lead with 8 to play. With ETSU's win we stay in first place at least until Wednesday. FU also gained a couple of spots in Kenpom today.

We need to watch what ETSU is doing against UNCG’s full court pressure. Making it look easy.
It helps to have big guards that can throw it over those tall guys on the press. And it also helps to attack it by throwing the ball down the court instead of just passing back and forth in the backcourt. That's what they want you to do, and then trap you when you get it just past the half-court line.

I didn't watch that game Roundball, what were they doing?
