Our Freshmen?

Does anybody really know much about our freshmen? Is there room for optimism based on that class? This has nothing to do with our performance tonight or even this year.

I would think that with such a great coach and our record the last 3 years that we should be recruiting better and better players.

Redshirting two of them is huge. I think it’s a solid class.

Surprised Pugh has not played more this year as sophomore. Was hoping he could give us a spark off the bench. Hasn’t happened yet.

Good question. We were led to believe that two or three would contribute this year but I guess none are ready which is a little disappointing especially since we are playing only 7 players currently.

I'll be very surprised if Colin Kenney doesn't eventually work his way into the rotation.

Agree. He is perhaps the best pure shooter on the team and appears to be a very capable ball handler. Seems to me that during last nights cold shooting at Alabama, Pugh should have been given some PT.

I feel like against the best teams in the conference and against elite non-conference opponents, BR likes to go with his known commodities ... which means the top 7 players or so. Feel like versus other opponents we will see more of a full squad. I hope that the breathers the key guys get during the latter mentioned games will keep them fresh enough to continue playing big minutes (and playing well) in March.

I have said all along the key to this year will be Mounce and Gurley. Not to jinx anyone but Mounce seems to have upped his game and consistency and has been in double digits every game. If Gurley could do the same it would help a lot. Right now he has been in double digits 3 of 5 games. He needs to be in double digits every game. Lyons is Lyons and he will get his. I said before the season that Hunter would be a top scorer this year and I think he will eventually. We know he is a better shooter than he has shown. I wonder if he is still adjusting to the new 3 point line? Slawson is much improved from last year and we will take any contributions from him. He is not going to put up MR numbers and we don't expect him to and that is why we need to have Mounce and Gurley to be consistent double digit scorers.

I've been very pleased with Slawson's play, if he keeps working and playing aggressive he can be very very good
