Y'all are going to think I am crazy when I post this but here goes...This is who the current Furman players remind me of from yesteryear:

Gurley - a young Kevin Durant. Long, can run the court, shoot the 3. The sky's the limit.
Mounce - former UNC/Philly 76er star Bobby Jones. Slouches a little. Can jump out of the gym.
Hunter - former Boston Celtic point guard JoJo White.
Clark - former UNC defensive stopper Theo Pinson. If he could improve shooting and ball handling...wow!
Lyons - former Baltimore Bullet/NY Knick star Earl "the Pearl" Monroe. Not as flashy but still a great player. (not sure about that one).
Bothwell - a left handed version of former NY Knick star Walt Frazier. Big guard. Can shoot and take it to the hole. Maybe?

FurmAlum, if you remember the Knicks of that era... u are not half bad!

I would say Mounce might be like Dave Debuascher
And Williams from last year's team was Willis Reed

To someone who spent the 70’s in MSG watching the Knicks, those comparisons are sacrilege. Let’s try to stay in the real world and root for a bunch of nice student athletes to do well in the SoCon and not confuse them with legends of the game. 🤐 None of those great kids mentioned in the posts compare in any way with Dave, Willis or Clyde other than that they all played basketball.

I figured I'd take some heat for that and I know they are not as good as those legends. Their playing style reminds me of them...and I can dream can't I?

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
