Big reason for this loss was lack of paint presence (both on offense or defense). I definitely think Cooper Bowser developing under Richey for another year will help. Need catalysts on the offensive end- most of the time it's just one player that shows out, which isn't enough a lot of the time. Overall, still very proud of this team and this season, forever happy to be a Din.

Carter Whitt was the only reason this game was close. He has the best basketball sense on the court and a classic point guard. If he were a great shooter he would still be at Wake Forest. He showed what a compliment he can be to Peques today. Going forward we have a backcourt. We have no front court. We need to get some studs who can put the ball in the basket. We have too many people who can’t shoot and don’t even look at the basket. It’s impossible to win that way. The answer is obvious in this day and age. Peques and Whitt were heroic today. Kudos to them for making us competitive.

The bottom line was they hit their shots and we didn't. I am proud our team didn't quit. We only lost that game by 7 points and just think of all those shots including the free throws that we missed....oh my.

I didn't think our D was all that bad other than nobody could guard Achoor. Just couldn't buy a basket after the first 5 minutes even though we were getting pretty decent looks.

Glad to see Whitt make a bunch of shots. Should help is confidence .

Hats off and congrats to Sammy. They just played better than we did.

Too many scoring droughts this season and it showed up again today. Won’t win many games when you don’t score a basket the last 10:43 of the first half.

Good effort. Not a stellar performance.

Foster scored first 8 and then hit 4 FT’s and went scoreless the last 30 plus minutes of the game. Pegues was off but still scored 22.

Hopefully a great game by Whitt (20 points) will spur him on for next year.

Hughey sort of disappeared the last half of the season.

Amazing to only lose by 7 the way we played.
Play well and we win!
I didn’t realize until reading a recent article that Hughey had hip surgeries each of the past 2 offseasons. Hopefully a healthy offseason will help him reach his potential. Add Bronson to the mix and next season will be better.

Don’t buy the tired leg thingy. These are 20 year olds. Teams win 2 games in 2 days all the time.
Ask Coach Richey. Samford was back in their rooms by 3:00. We were back at 1:00 a.m, then lost an hour of sleep with the time change. It made a difference last year for us and it made a difference today. We witnessed it on the court.
ETSU played at 7:30 Friday then beat #2 UNCG who was fresh at 2:30 Saturday. Not buying it the tired thingy as an excuse.

all SD knows is that Smith said he was exhausted in WCU postgame, Alot of the shots from 3 and FTs were short which usually means tired legs

Think there's also an emotional component to the exhaustion too after that Western game.

Just don’t think SU is good enough to win a game in the tourney if they get there.

So ETSU playing their third game in 3 days overcomes a 20 point second half deficit to send the game into OT so the tired excuse does not hold water.

A collapse of biblical proportiins as Dan says. UTC had a 20 point lead with under 14 to go. The ETSU win assures Samford of the title.

On Samford's roster of 20 players, I counted 9 seniors or grads. Hope they are moving on to other things next year.

Achor Achor is a junior. Damn.

yes was thinking abt that. Thought there was a limit on number of players on a roster?

BTW on post game, Growe said Dins had 1 scholly avail. Wonder what position they will go after?

Foster only played 21 minutes. I assume he hurt his knee as Roundball suggested.

I get it that if you never shoot nobody has to cover you. And I know CBR wants our weaker shooters to shoot some. And really nobody was hitting 3’s today.

BUT I wonder if we could have scored 7 more points on 6 possessions where 3’s were shot and missed by 3 of our non-shooters today.

Oh well. A team loss for sure. We had one player who brought his A game. It happens.

It’s March. #7 ETSU has beaten the #2 and #3 seeds. Other tourneys have had upsets the latest being #1 in the Big Sky losing to the last place team tonight.
