Played pretty poorly the first half with a bad finish. Gurley’s hands hurt us a good bit. Instead of catching a pass and going straight up for dunk or easy basket he fumbles the ball just enough to lose any advantage.

Had at least 4 turnovers because of their press. That hurt us big.

If they score first in 2nd half we could be facing a 10 point deficit. Someone needs to step up!

Disappointing finish after a great comeback. The team will be kicking themselves after they see how many points off of turnovers they let UNCG have. We need to get dialed up to beat Western at home. Also why did the HC from UNCG get to coach? I thought ejections led to a minimum suspension of one game. Is the SOCON commissioner his uncle?

Disappointing. Bothered by their press. Did not play with confidence. Too many lazy passes that were deflected or intercepted. Out coached, out played tonight. Lot more games to go. Gurley worked hard for his points and rebounds. Some big shots by Mike. Our team is good but will have to bring it every night. Go Paladins!

Story of the game, UNCG 16 steals

They get away with a ton of grabbing on their press defense, should have been more fouls

Nevertheless we need to work on our press offense moving forward big time, gotta get better

Great crowd tonight

Attendance was 4,646

Largest FU basketball crowd in a long time

Easy to see us getting another huge crowd at the 'Well' when we host Wofford there later this season

Bad finish of first half and horrific start to second half. So many TO because of their press. Proud we cut it to 4 when their guy then hit the ridiculously long 3. Won’t win many games when Hunter and Lyons score 3 combined baskets and hit one combined 3.

UNCG was the better team tonight.

We got outscored 10-2 to end the half after erasing a 7 point deficit. Like you said the horroble start in the second compounded it. 16 steals and 11 missed free throws. IMHO UNCG looks like the best team in the league right now despite their 2 league losses. Miller is prolly the best player in the league. WCU and WC become must wins now. The book on FU is now to press them. A shame we could not keep ot close at the end instead of lettung them run away again. Right now we have fallen 10 spots in kenpom to #69 but still the highest ranked SoCon team. Great crowd tonight.

Hunter sat for quite a bit of the second half. He was not right tonite, for some reason or another. Not sure if physical or they just got in his head.

This was just one of those nights. They hit everything in 2H and when they missed it seemed the rebound would go right back to them.

Live and learn....we weren’t going to be undefeated in the SoCon and this isn’t a bad loss.

If you watched the game, UNCG committed fouls early in both halves. I know in the second half, we were in the bonus with at least 10 min left. Granted we shot horribly from the line, but drive to the basket and get them to foul. I was surprised we didn't take advantage of this in either half. We need to get more physical down low and take it to the rim. Among our guards, Bothwell seems to be the only one comfortable taking it to the hoop. Frustrating to not see us take advantage of the foul situation. Love BR, but didn't think he played this to our advantage.

The UNCG press hurt us badly and it wasn't even a full effort on their part. Long, lazy passes is not the answer. That led to an unusual amount of turnovers and was a killer.
UNCG had their backs to the wall and they played like it tonight. Their defensive intensity resulted in poor ball handling by FU and more turnovers. The fact that they shot the ball much better than usual was icing on the cake for them - both from the field and the foul line. They brought their A game and we did not. Hueitt and Abdulsalaam came up big for them tonight. And then there is the omni present Isiah Miller.

Jordan Lyons is an essential part of this team and we need him to be in good double figures for us to win against a good team like UNCG. They essentially took him out of the game tonight with tough defense.

Mike Bothwell darn near brought us back in the game by himself. IMO, he is the most creative offensive player in the league. He has a very aggressive mindset and the skill to back it up. If he improves year to year to the extent he has this year, he is on his way to POY in the SoCon.

Two really good teams on the floor tonight and that is the way it will be down to the bitter end, IMO. . Tough league this year with 4 or 5 really good teams but from what I've seen these two are the cream. All in all, not a terrible loss but some adjustments need to be made. We will be pressed going forward and need to learn to do a better job against it.

Updated kenpom rankings this morning and last night's loss cost us 11 spots, down to #70. That is a lot for one loss but if we had kept in the 6-8 pint range we'd prolly be around 65. Those last couple of minutes when we disappeared really cost us as far as rankings go.
