We just don’t play well against those guys. Now have lost 5 of the last 6.

Well, that was a total beat down. The performance was more on us than anything UNCG did. We’re better than expected this year, but it will take a total team effort to beat the top of the league. We’ve gutted out some good wins, but today we were just off. Go get The Citadel on Wednesday. I have confidence we will be more competitive when we get UNCG at the Well.

Yep first time all year they have scored 80 in a D1 game.
Only scored 70 4 times. Scored 68 Wednesday against WC and needed 3 to win at the end. Shot 38%.
Came in 9th in the league in shooting at 43%. Today 57%
Shooting 37% from 3. Today 52%
Most points given up by FU all year except KU. Previous high was 74 to Belmont.
By far their best game.

UNCG has only won 2 games away from home and the Woffy win was their only true road win. I have no idea if their schedule is tougher than ours. Their 2 power 5 road losses were not bad. They lost to North Florida on the road and NF was beaten at home today by Lipscomb by 32 points. Seems to me that their 2 best wins are Woffy and Furman. Definitely a bunch of homers.
They played their best game of the season against us and caught us on a bad shooting night. I'm not sure if Coach Richey sees it that way and would be interested to know what he said about the game.

Pretty much what he said on the postgame. Said we were getting wide open shots and kept thinking they would start falling but they never did. Pjay was the only scorer in double figures. Not gonna win many like that.
CBR was not as critical of the team after the game as I thought he would have been. He said he thought the effort was there , but that we just didn’t shoot well today.
My observations were that we got out hustled, played poor defense and looked pretty lost as a team .
Hopefully we will play better moving forward.

Coach said a team usually has about 2 games per year in which they play horribly, 2 games where they are out of their mind good but most games are played around the mean. I took it that he thinks we have had our 2 bad games.
All I can say is we looked very lethargic on the defensive side of the ball. UNCG was getting an absurd amount of uncontested shots off balls screens and just out hustling us in general. Giles beat FU by himself.
I’ve seen the same scenario play out in Charleston over the years and end in a loss. I know the bellhops are struggling but we need to right the ship quickly because we always get their best shot.
Thought the same, like I said previously this was the first time they reached 80. Not the normal defense we’ve been seeing.

I could see it in warm-ups as looked like we were just going through the motions, our team did not get off the bus with intensity and it carried over into the game...
Couple that with poor shooting and UNCG red hot and we got our butts kicked.....
We will be ok, just gotta show up with high energy and intensity every single night out..........
