So, I do appreciate your post, gofurman.
Thank you for expressing your valid concerns and thought.
It is both good and bad that a lot of posts on UFFP are not serious - people like be be humorous.
Also, many of the posts (probably mine, I acknowledge) may be going off in a slightly different direction, but still related, and may seem off topic and/or not really “answering” a previous post but instead continuing a “discussion” in an informal and hopefully an at least semi-interesting way.
We have a combination of users here.
The same individual users have a combination of various styles - depending on the topic, the day, the context of what has happened, the mood, etc.
In any case, I agree with you that when a serious question is asked, it deserves a serious answer which should be challenged and called out if the answer is just wrong, or is answering the wrong question.
I feel it would be easier to read, UFFP, particularly on a little IPhone screen, when one could be read replies without having to scroll through a whole slew of previous replies again and again and not knowing what one may have missed reading or may have forgotten.
Also … even if “the answer is in the game notes”, that does not necessarily substitute for a serious, correct answer - unless it’s something EXTREMELY obvious - such as “what was the final score”.

Affirm, THANK YOU. Yes. You see the pattern.

I tend towards the more serious / LITERAL side. And that is often tough here on this board. Because people on iPhones / don’t take the time or what have you - they skim my questions and give an incorrect answer. To whit - I ask “ does anyone happen to know when were we last out gained by 300 rushing yards?” Certainly A very legitimate question on a football board. I was told “look at game notes “. That answer is NOT there. As explained before, the game notes only note the last opponent to gain 300 rushing yards vs us. Which is A DIFFERENT answer entirely. If the opponent gains 303 rushing yards and we gain 203 yards rushing we were only OUT GAINED by 100 rushing yards.

Yet I Got this reply on the board and otherwise a few times …

Thank you. MUCH APPRECIATE your understanding. And please note I appreciate people’s attempts to answer my questions! I definitely do. Just on that one and a few recently it was becoming quite clear people here were skimming my post several times and not truly understanding the questions. And I certainly make mistakes too!

Anyway, go Furman basketball ! I told people recently that we were almost a QUAD ONE win if played at Furman as we are Net 80 (roughly as varies a little by day) and otherwise teams get a Q1 NET WIN if they win on road at NET 75 or higher. WOW. strong. I do think we will drop some as someone is bound to get hot from three against us at some time. I sure hope we make March Madness again !!! GoFurman

I don't think any early conference games can be called trap games, especially road games. The only ones that might qualify for the term are later season games against a low rated opponent right before a big "showdown"game or right after such a contest. Early on... Conference season is a new season. A lot of things still to prove.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
