Is it possible that a player has an academic scholarship that doesn’t count against the 13 athletic scholarships?
90% sure that's not the case, but not 100% lol

Any type of scholarship counts toward the total so no that is not the case.
Are you sure about this? Pretty sure Ben Beeker had an academic scholarship a few years ago and didn't count against the total.

True that, we had 13 scholarships for 2 seasons when we had a 14th player Ben Beeker on the team as a walk-on that was getting an academic scholarship to FU

Yes, I am sure. If any scholarship didn’t count the P5’s would load up. You can combine partial athletic scolarships with academic ones to make a whole but you have to maintain certain academic levels.

Correct. That’s what I remember about Beeker. He wasn’t on an athletic schollly but did have an academic one.

re bowser
he is in prep school this year meaning he is probably 19.if he redshirts this coming year he will be 20.so with 4 remaining years he would be 24 by his last year.perhaps we're taking a page from the aztecs as well as recognizing the benefits of age we got from mike and slaw.

If Bowser can help us next year we should play him next year. No sense preserving eligibility that may be used Elsewhere.

CBR played his freshman year at Francis Marion University on an academic scholarship. He knows a lot about this.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
