Well, it looks like this tweet from April 20 has been deleted. In this tweet, there no was no mention of a chance to win based on giving levels. It read that by giving at those levels, you would receive the incentive. I wonder which one Furman will honor? That was also the case with the original tweet about the framed picture. It changed too. It was probably an oversight, and no big deal. I am just grateful to be able to support the program. That is all the incentive I need.

Makes sense. Someone just messed up with that first tweet. Quite frankly, I did not understand how everyone that gave $43.00 could get the framed picture, unless funds were donated to cover the costs.fupaladin01 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 4:53 pmIt seems that laws were enacted in SC since last year that preclude a college from guaranteeing items in exchange for gifts/donations. I assume this has to do with the law viewing such a guarantee as essentially a sale and the tax liability is undoubtedly lower for a donation than for a direct sale. So in order to qualify as a pure "donation", Furman must provide only a "chance to win" a shirt, framed photo, basketball, etc.
My understanding is that Furman basketball will try to make sure many people have a good chance at receiving a prize, though they are unable to guarantee any gift as it might be construed as a quid pro quo.
