I think it was Ray Miller that led the team in scoring one year and then left? I can't help wondering what ever happened to him?
Correct. Excellent question: I never heard about him again. That was a tough year but it ended well by beating SC in Greenville.

NBA Assistants- Dave Hanners and Jim Cleamons.
Correct-a-mundo Potsie. Hanners played at UNC for Dean Smith and is a coach with New Orleans now. Jim Cleamons is retired according to Mr. Google, but he was behind the bench for the Bulls throughout Jordan's run, as I recall.

Name one player who sang the national anthem prior to a game.

Larry Wideman, 2016
I had forgotten despite being present. Judges also would have accepted Don Harris and Randy Morris.

Special bonus question:

Name the player who played for two Furman Head Coaches but who never played for Furman.

Artis Gilmore
Correct. Artis played at Gardner-Webb for Eddie Holbrook and at Jacksonville for Joe Williams. Artis is also the answer to the question of who was the #1 pick in the NBA ABA dispersal draft when the ABA disbanded. (David Thompson's team was joining the NBA, so DT was ineligible for the draft.) On a personal note, I saw Artis play in person for the Chicago Bulls and he was a gigantic man.

However, the biggest human whom I have ever seen is Geoff Crompton from UNC whose hand I shook when I was 13. Geoff battled weight problems at UNC and ironically enough, he and I met in a cafeteria.

I remember Geoff well.

As a kid, I remember meeting a Wake Forest player at ACC tournament—thinking how HUGE his hands were! Last name Griffin? Rod maybe?

Who was the first African- American athlete (in any sport) at Furman and; in addition, the only Furman athlete to be drafted both by the NBA and NFL?

Yes. Rod Griffin was conference POY under Carl Tacy.

Complete guess: Joe Brunson, I believe, satisfies the latter; I'm not sure if he satisfies the first half of the question, however.

Speaking of Artis Gilmore, I was at the Mideast Regionals in 1970 when JU made their playoff debut. I went with a friend who was a JU fan. After the game we talked our way into the locker room. Security back in the day was pretty lax. Always remember Artis walking out the shower with just a towel around his waist and reporters putting microphones in his face and Artis having a somewhat deer in head lights look on his face. I will agree with previous post Artis was a very very big man!

The biggest human I have ever seen in person is former Utah Jazz center Mark Eaton.
