My thoughts on the game: We played well in the first half but looked tired and out of place in the second. Auburn killed us on the offensive board and on turnovers in the second half. That’s when the talent disparity really showed.

Player thoughts:
Anderson - Played point most of the game. Nice job shooting the ball. Auburn played tougher D on him in second half and he wasn’t as productive.

Johnston - good shooter, looked good on FT line. Needs to work more on an inside game. Set some nice screens. Good size.

Hien - made lots of FTs in warm ups but this didn’t carry into the game. Fumbled the ball a lot when it got to him. I was hoping he’d play better.

Hughey - again, I expected to see more, but he was pretty much a non-factor in the game.

Bowser - physically stronger, didn’t check his rebound totals but think he will be a presence this year.

House - played ok. Just ok. Not much offensive performance.

Bronson - I expected more from him offensively. He really had trouble handling the ball against auburn. Didn’t shoot much.

Vanderwal - played a decent game. He always hustles. Hope he improves his shooting this year.

Again, this was an exhibition game. Playing against a quality team like Auburn, we looked pretty slow on the court. Need to set better screens to get shooters the ball. Johnston probably needs to start over Hien. Hien may play better off the bench.

Still very early but I’m guessing we finish middle of the pack in socon.

Hien and Hughey were disapointing. In almost 34 mins 1 point and 2 rebounds.. Both need to step up. Still think Molnar deserves more PT. Molnar in 15 minutes 5 points, 4 rebounds.

Wasn't able to get to the game, but missing PJ means we had all new guards out there. Turnovers an obvious and expected problem in that situation. No experienced ball-handlers against a top 10 level team in the first game of the year. Not an ideal scenario. Nothing to get worked up about either. Experience and the return of PJ should make a big difference.

Box score - Anderson 19 pts on 50% shooting from three point range and overall. VanderWal 14 pts and a team leading 6 rebs. For Auburn returning star player Johni Broome scored 18 pts. and had 14 rebs. He averaged 17 and 9 last season. Hit almost 55% of his FGs last year,40% today - don't know if that was good defense or early season rust. JP Pegues played over 20 minutes. 2 points and 1 assist. Had 6 rebounds.

Yep need PJ back badly!
Looks like another season of walking on eggshells regading dealing with injuries due to lack of guard depth, hope we wind up with better luck than last season...

Not a good start injury wise with PJ already hurt.

That video posted was only the second half. Or I'm I doing something wrong? Anyway could we get the first half posted?

I didn't think we did too bad considering we were down both point guards, one injured and the other one playing for Auburn.

JP looked like he wasn't trying to score much against his old mates or is Anderson that good of a defensive player?

Attendance was 4,017. I doubt anyone knew about except FU and AU peeps. I only saw it mentioned on the 2 teams media outlets, Not bad for a Sunday afternoon during football season.

True

But I think he could be ready to go by next week (at least by Belmont game when we will really need him)
