The P5s aren't ignoring the 4 and 5 stars they think can play right away. They just want other schools to develop some of the lesser recruited guys so they can be stolen via transfer after proving themselves.

Wofford, Chattanooga, and ETSU are all very actively looking for transfers - they keep popping up on lists of newly announced transfers as schools showing interest - Wofford was listed several times yesterday.

Former SoCon Freshman of the Year Kevin Easley has now picked his 4th school. He started at Chattanooga, went to TCU, left TCU for Duquesne and has now left there for Coastal Carolina.
Cam Bacote, a backup guard for Western Carolina this year is trying to match that. He started at Maryland-Eastern Shore, left there for Indiana State, then WCU, and has announced another transfer.
No direct SoCon connection, but Zane Meeks, 6'9" player who we tried to sign a few years ago, is now going to attend his third school - He originally signed with Nevada, left after 2 years for U of San Francisco, was there for 2 years including an NCAA appearance last year and has now transferred to Arizona State.

I am not even sure these SoCon schools are batting .100 in the portal, fact is they are striking out left and right, going to end up with a bunch of leftovers just to be able to field teams next season lol

Man the Teariers have problems.

Hadn't been paying attention since I don't care but it is pretty crazy - Woffy somehow as of today has a total of *one* basketball commit, transfer or HS, despite like 5 open spots.

The Paladins were mentioned as showing interest in at least 12 different transfers and signed 1, which comes in about an 8% success rate. That is just the ones we heard about - could have been others. If any SoCon school gets 10% that would be amazing. Only the bluest of the blue bloods would get 10% of the guys that they showed interest in.

I am talking about guys they bring in for campus visits of course, not just making a phone call to, so yeah they are striking out big time ;)

FU had 1 spot to fill at the time and it was gone very quick.

These other teams are struggling to find guys even now when they still have 3, 4 even 5 scholarships open, pretty pitiful no doubt, they will eventually get filled with the bottom of the barrel.

Samford's Jaron Rillie will transfer to Northern Colorado. They have signed Garrett Hicks, a 6'0" jr. from Alabama A&M.

That's a decent pickup for Sammy, I reckon he will start at PG for them as they have nothing else with experience at that position right now basically........

What happened to Glover? Kudos for SU for updating their roster for the ‘23-24 season.

The Terriers gain a transfer - Chase Cormier, 6'2" 166 freshman guard, from Northeastern. Cormier picked up a dozen D1offers in HS in Milton,GA. He played about 13 minutes per game and scored 3.6 ppg this season. Cormier had an interesting set of reported offers in HS,which included Florida, Mississippi State, and Xavier in addition to his other mostly regional mid-major type offers like, ETSU,App. State, Georgia State, Elon and UNCW. I checked some video for him and he is quick and shifty but may need some more strength and a better three point shot. With Wofford's losses he will probably be a definite part of their top 7 if not a starter.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
