Accurate description by Monday ^

The best part was Bob Richey addressing the crowd and saying we were a big part of an 8.3 statistical "home court" advantage, but he wanted us to be there 15 min early to games and establish FU as the best home court advantage (currently Samford claims that moniker)

The lack of enthusiasm from students was frankly embarrassing. Many were likely there for a chance to win 10K (who would blame them) and left as soon as the last challenge was done. The most entertaining bit was the "knockout game" in which our men's bball players were bounced out first, and a student wearing dress shoes and a tie beat the remaining women's team members.

I know this is the first event of its kind, and I think there were good ideas they can build on, but there was little there for alumni or community members to get excited about if they didn't already know and like the teams/players.

I remember a few years ago there was a 3-on-3 student tournament with the winners playing the coaching staff.
That was a lot of fun.
It was engaging, unique, and fans got to see another side of the team and coaches. There was also a skills challenge between the men's and women's teams.
Those are the types of competition that fans won't see any other time than at a preseason jamboree/midnight madness event.
Last night wasn't much more than an extended halftime.

But this will all be forgotten by the time we whip Belmont's a$$.

Thanks Monday! Sounded like it was more for students so that is why I didn’t go. Glad I didn’t now. Any students win any money?

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
