More Bothwell press....

"Why Cornerstone can make state: Michael Bothwell is one of the state’s best players and a Mr. Basketball candidate. He led the Patriots with 24.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. The 6-foot-3 Furman commit made 57 3-pointers on 47 percent shooting. Cornerstone won 15 games competing with one of the state’s most challenging schedules, jam-packed with competition against high-caliber Division I and II programs....."

Last night in CCA's 88-45 win in the state playoffs, Mike Bothwell had an average night....26 pts, 7 assists and rebounds.

As much as I like the the scoring and 3 pt shooting prowess he's demonstrated, he is also a willing passer and rebounder.

Revenge game win. Warren JFK was the team that upset Bothwell's team last year in the tournament.

Mike Bothwell and CCA play against Bristol tomorrow night. Bristol is a tiny consolidated school in Trumbull County...think Hoosiers (340 students). Bristol is ranked 6th is the state.
If I were a betting man I'd expect CCA to play Mansfield St. Peters in the Regional Finals. St. Peters is always good...in fact, we (Gilmour) played them in the Canton Regional Finals way back in 1992. We beat them 54-51.

Player to watch

Taylor, a senior guard, came into this season with the reputation as one of the best players in the state, and he certainly lived up to it, leading the Redhounds with 28.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The Furman signee is currently third all-time in the state with 3,588 career points, behind only King Kelly Coleman (4,337) and Charlie Osborne (3,647). He’s also 19th all time in rebounds. “He’s the best I’ve coached in 17 years here,” Pietrowski said. “Obviously, if you watch him play you see the ability he has. I think what a lot of people don’t know about him is his work ethic. He’s a kid who is literally in the gym every day improving his game.”
