Defense was again key to the win. UNCG prides themselves on defense and they were tough today. We had to fight hard to get good shots but we did convert when we got them.

Abdulsalam scored 23 and hit 9-10 FGs but their whole team only hit 2 three point shots. If he had 35 points that would be big trouble but I think we win most games where he is the only big scorer and they aren't getting open threes. Richey confirmed that the game plan was to single cover Abdulsalam and stop other guys from getting good shots. It worked. It really helps that the Paladins hit 47% from behind the arc. I really like our chances when we can do that.

Out of curiosity do UFFP people check other SOCON teams forums regularly?
I do not. Great must win! Overall good effort except at the charity stripe. Easily beat the spread. All we have to do now is win 8 in a row and the regular season title is ours. Let’s start on Wednesday at Timmons with UTC. Need a big crowd as CBR stated.

Coach has a process and it works. Furman is a team of outstanding players and every night proves they adjust and win games.

I love this process

Hard to tell from TV but were there any UNCG students there? Never saw any. Usually tv will show the student section.

No excuse for the SoCon website having the Standings listing in this order…

SCHOOL CONF OVERALL
UNCG 8-2 14-9
Samford 8-2 14-9
Furman 8-2 17-6

Furman ‘wins’ the Alpha sort and both the most overall wins & better overall record sort.

C’mon SoCon - get your poop in a pile and put the Paladins in the proper position of primacy.
They fixed it…

SCHOOL RECORD PCT HOME AWAY STREAK RECORD PCT HOME AWAY NEUTRAL STREAK
Furman 8-2 .800 3-1 5-1 W4 17-6 .739 10-2 6-2 1-2 W4
Samford 8-2 .800 5-0 3-2 L2 14-9 .609 10-2 4-7 0-0 L2
UNCG 8-2 .800 4-2 4-0 L1 14-9 .609 8-3 5-4 1-2 L1

Obviously, the top brass at the SoCon Office in SparkleCity are avid readers of TheUFFP.

Post-game Comments:

Positive:
1) Good team defense.
2) The play of JP is the biggest reason we are a better team now than we were a month ago.
3) Hien is back and did make a difference yesterday.

Negative:
1) Shot-Clock violations. Better to throw up a low percentage shot than no shot at all.
2) Gotta STOP throwing the ball away. You know who I'm talkin' about.
3) No excuse for our FT shooting yesterday.

That said, GO DINS! Scalp the Mocs!

Defense was good yesterday but UNCG seems to be offensively challenged at this time. They just completed a 4 game homestand and averaged 62 ppg. 70 vs Citadel, 59 vs. Mercer, 62 vs. VMI and 57 vs. FU. Thru their first 10 SoCon games the only time they have reached 75 was at Timmons.

And we all know why that 75 happened, tick tack one sided foul calls leading to 41 UNCG free throw attempts

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
