I'm not saying DII programs aren't good, but Furman should win 8 to 9 out of 10 vs. any of the aforementioned programs...Furman's depth is better than Division II depth...Starting five is probably good for each of those programs, but Furman is just better.

I took a look at some of VMI's last game. They lost in OT at Fordham. VMI looked about the same as they have in recent years except, of course, without 7'0" Jake Stephens in the middle. They have multiple good shooting smaller guards and forwards and can be dangerous if you let them get open shots or don't defend the drive. Weaker inside on both offense and defense this year as expected. VMI gave both Davidson and Fordham trouble and lost very close games. Fordham finished 12-1 in the pre-conference this year but their record may be a mirage. They played one of the weakest schedules in D1- #342 of 363 according the Pomeroy ratings. They lost tonight to Davidson by 14.

Lunardi still has FU in the tourney but has dropped them all the way down to a 15 seed. That would be the lowest seed for a SoCon team in a long time. Obviously he doesn’t think much of the SoCon.

We open up SoCon play with the 4 worst teams according to kenpom. All are south of 255.(259-320).Y’all know me as I am always optimistic😳 but I am skeptical we go 4-0.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
