Joe Pierre III is an assistant coach for the Furman University men's basketball team, having joined in May 2025 after serving as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Liberty University. At Liberty, starting in 2018 as Director of Player Development and promoted to assistant coach in 2020, he contributed to eight conference championships in six seasons, including back-to-back ASUN Regular Season and Tournament titles in 2019 and 2020, and helped the Flames reach the NCAA Tournament. His roles included recruiting, scouting, on-court player development, and film breakdown. Before Liberty, Pierre was a graduate assistant and video coordinator at Middle Tennessee (2016-2018), aiding in a 56-13 record and two postseason appearances, including an NCAA Tournament second-round run in 2017. He also served as a student manager at Oklahoma State (2011-2015), where he was part of three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Pierre graduated from Oklahoma State with a B.S. in Secondary Education (2015) and earned an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Middle Tennessee State (2018).

Safe to say our defense may be a lot better next year. That plus the length we have across the board

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
