I'm not sure if some of y'all are being sarcastic or not, but it worries me to think that true fans who have supported the team for years with steady attendance, watching every play, cheering loudly, wearing purple, going on the road, etc might be sidelined (or more accurately, raftered) simply because we're not in a position to give thousands of dollars to something that we already invest multiple hundreds of dollars in.
I understand the tiered system. I don't think it's a bad idea, and I know wooing donors is important. But we're the guys who get season tickets to football and basketball, show up to nearly all the games, and make noise. Compared to a bunch of folks in overpriced quarter-zips and embroidered khakis who mainly just drink and chat, I feel we are an invaluable part of the overall atmosphere, and are tragically overlooked by the powers that be. But I bet the players would prefer 50 passionate purple-clad fans in the seats to 100 gussied-up donors talking up in a box.

My guess, but I think this might be a mountain/molehill issue. I don't think it's going to be that difficult for someone who wants a season ticket to get one, or a decent seat/experience.

There is not a bad seat in the house in my opinion. I Also don't see major donors taking seats from long time, loyal, every day fans. With the luxury boxes there may be more seats available. While I do have an abundance of overpriced quarter zips, I have also been known to stoop well below my financial means for entertainment. Furman needs every fan possible, they are all valuable! Purple clad sweat shirts and gussied up donors.

Full disclosure...I don't consider myself a major donor, just a long time donor that gives what I can. I just happen to like Quarter zips. ;)

A Letter From Furman AD Jason Donnelly
Dear Furman Athletics Family,

I hope this letter finds you and your families doing well and enjoying the start of spring.

This past winter, Furman men’s and women’s basketball hosted a record 45,000 fans for our home basketball games at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, North Greenville University, and Bob Jones University, and culminated in an exciting Southern Conference basketball tournament in Asheville with an incredible crowd of Paladin supporters for our SoCon championship game! We are deeply grateful for your support during our displacement season while Timmons Arena has undergone a $40 million donor-funded renovation into a reimagined first-class facility.

Thanks to the generosity of 300 donors who helped us realize our philanthropic goal, we are prepared to begin the seating and sales process for the 2025-2026 basketball season. The completely redesigned seating bowl will feature a variety of seating opportunities, including courtside seats, club seats, and lower-level seating closer to the floor. The venue will offer eight private suites, two party suites, 32 loge seats, two premium club spaces in the Ingram Courtside Club and the Herring VIP Suite, plus The Rogues Hospitality Deck. Timmons Arena will offer various levels of premium ticketing packages that will feature VIP access and amenities, food & beverage, private restrooms, parking, and concierge service, as well as season ticket packages that start as low as $250 per seat.

There will be something for everyone in the new Timmons Arena. Furman students will have a dedicated seating section and a new “Student Zone” that has been specifically created for students to enjoy. The north side of the arena will include one of the most innovative areas inside any college basketball venue as Kraemer Design & Production has teamed with The Children’s Museum of the Upstate to create the “Children’s Zone”. The arena will also feature a sensory room and nursing room for families. A pair of new ribbon boards will provide first-class fan engagement and corporate partnership opportunities, while our new 360-degree concourse will feature grab-and-go food and drink as well as traditional concession options. The concourse also boasts a drink rail where fans can enjoy an unobstructed view of the action from any angle above the seating bowl. In addition to basketball games, Timmons Arena will host events concerts, and be accessible to the community, while serving as a practice facility for the basketball programs.

The Timmons Arena sales process will begin in April and continue over several months, with the selection process conducted according to priority points. The Furman Athletics Fund Priority Points Guide will continue to serve as a comprehensive overview of the priority points program and establish guidelines for the Timmons Arena seat selection process. Our staff will engage each donor and season ticket holder according to his or her tier and priority points ranking to determine their place in line. They will be notified when we engage the corresponding tier and ranking as we move through the selection process. For further questions, please contact the Furman Athletics Development Office at 864-294-2490.

Once again, we thank you for your passionate support of Furman Athletics. We look forward to seeing you in our redesigned Timmons Arena in the fall! Take care and Go Paladins!

Sincerely,

Jason Donnelly
Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics

I am looking forward to going to Timmons to pick out my seats. I just hope that will all the new hires to "sell" Timmons, I will be able to afford those seats.
Yep I’m afraid my dead center half court seats will now be end zone at best and maybe not at all with so few seats.
Doesn't matter as long as we're able to keep receiving your optimistic review of the games.

Well said 01. Wait and see there will be many unused seats in the center sections during most games.

I am not concerned at all about long time season ticket holders being care of. JD knows how important we are to the future of Furman basketball. Heck, we supported the team in the JJ era. There will not be a bad seat in the house. I am excited about picking out my two seats. Put me in the rafters and I will still be there to support our Paladins. Just keep me away from BSA!

About time!
Affirm has been inspired to look up the meaning of “quarter-zips” and thus experienced yet another learning moment thanks to UFFP.
Before long, affirm may take the time to investigate the term “embroidered (?) khakis”.
