Unfortunately there is a $27,500 entry fee. Doubt FU will pay that. With that said would love to see it and the team deserves it if they want to play. It would give more national tv exposure. The CIT does not have an entry fee but host team pays $30k or more to cover travel, tv, streamimg etc. The Vegas tourney would be ideal but probably no chance at that.

I would take NIT or Vegas obviously...............

But hard pass on CBI and CIT though, both would be pointless......................

I would like to add a huge THANK YOU to the Furman adminstration for adjusting the Spring Break schdule, having students back on campus at school made the crowd atmosphere so much more exciting yesterday!
That was an electric atmosphere that would rival any sporting event!

Things that make you go "what the...."

Last place Gamecocks with 12-20 record is projected a 4 seed in NIT. They play in a very tough league but still they also should have better players than most

Pretty sure you have to have a .500 record to play in the NIT or you used to. They may have changed it.🤷🏼‍♂️

according to AI

No, you don’t need a winning record to play in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The NIT is a postseason college basketball tournament that typically invites teams that didn’t make the NCAA Tournament. Selection is based on a variety of factors, including overall performance, strength of schedule, and conference standings, rather than a strict requirement for a winning record. Historically, teams with .500 or even slightly below .500 records have been invited, especially if they played in a tough conference or had notable wins. The NIT committee has flexibility in choosing its 32-team field, so it’s more about the full resume than just wins versus losses.

more interesting AI stuff. Seems like Dins should be in some post season somewhere...

If you tally the major ones—NCAA Tournament and NIT—that’s 100 teams guaranteed each year, assuming no overlap (teams can’t play in both). Adding the CBI (when it runs) bumps it to around 116. The Basketball Classic could push it higher in years it’s active, but it’s been spotty lately.
For women’s basketball, it’s similar: 68 in the NCAA Tournament, plus 32 in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT), totaling 100 in the main events.
So, for men’s D-I, you’re looking at roughly 100-116 teams in a typical postseason, depending on which smaller tournaments happen. Women’s D-I is steadier at 100. These numbers shift slightly year to year based on participation and new tournament formats.

Yep looked it up, they have dropped the .500 requirement which makes it laughable. Means deserving schools get left out while conference bottom feeders get in. Completely a joke now.

once more, between Tourney (68), Vega Tournmenet (16) and NIT (32), 116 teams will be in postseason.

Then CBI has 16, CIT has another 16. Total is 152 teams. Then there are some teams that will pass on NIT.

True, you have to pay for some of these but the offer should be there. Not going is another thing

No point in even mentioning the CBI and CIT here, we could get in those any year we want but have ZERO interest, those two are a total waste of time and money...........

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
