CBR said a couple players were not giving full effort. What do they think... they are in NBA?

Back in the old days you would be running stairs and/or riding the pine until the old fire in the belly was smokinh hot again
CBR has said that before and we all know who he is talking about.
SD doesnt becuase there are at least a couple of candidates

PS So far the lineup changes have been 0-3. Johnston for Hein, Ed for Vandy, House for Vandy.

From a fan standpoint it certainly doesn't look like a lack of effort. It looks like too many players on the court who are no threat with the ball. Humphries? It looks like he can play and may be the missing piece. I don't understand although there is probably much I don't know about. He was highly recruited.

He said a couple, its not just one. One is very obvious.

I know CBR talks about finding that 3rd consistent scorer. House - 28 min and 5 pts, Bronson - 22 min and 4 pts. That’s not going to cut it.

Nope. I’m afraid this late in the season that 3rd consistent scorer is not going to show.

It's not to late to play guys like House and Johnston substantial minutes..they will both be seniors next year and the more playing time the better for next year...and how can it hurt us this year as reality has sunk in that this team has lots of problems..more than we thought..

You cannot win basketball games if you cannot put the ball in the basket.
We need to recruit shooters not athletes.
Athletes who can’t put the ball in the basket are not going to get it done at the D1 level.

Cant complain about scoring when the best 3pt shooter and one of the best FT shooters on the team plays 5 mins after going 1 for 1 from 3.

Johnston starting is a bold move. He is a little awkward as the 4 but often he has a player lest than a foot shorter guarding him

He could b that 3rd scoring but they gotta figure out a way to give him 20mins + IMHO

2 of 3 should always be on court at all times

Guard: Smith, Ed, Anderson
SG : add House
PF: Johnston, Hein, Bowser
F: Vandy, Molinar, Humphreys

If you need shooting or FTs, then
PJ Smith
Anderson
Mason Smith or Molinar
Johnston
House

humbly submitted with understanding that SDs knowledge of basketball ended on the 7th grade JV team

I think Johnston's weakness is on the defensive side of the ball and recognizing screens. But I agree, 5 min after starting and not to be seen again in the game. We have two 6'11 big men....yes, we have good shooting guards, but those shooting guards become much more effective if we can establish an inside game with the two of them. I'd much rather have Bowser or Johnston at the FT line than Hien or VanderWal.

Watched the replay last night, besides Johnston playing only the first 4:49 of the game, Molnar played only 2 minutes coming in at about the 14 minute mark of the first half and did not return after the 12 minute timeout. Niether Johnston or Molnar seemed to have any physical issues when they exited the game.

My theory on why Johnston started and only played 5 minutes is he got beat on a drive/back door and Coach R realized that he could not guard the smaller quicker player that he was matched up against. Not sure if it was Keesler or Weiland.

Same thing with Molnar but I'm less sure about that. He's been playing pretty well lately. So I don't know why he didn't play more.

It was all about the match-ups. With Chatty playing 4 guards, if you count K & W as guards, and only one post player Champion or Mulholland, it was necessary to play a smaller lineup.

I'm not sure it worked though. Smith and Anderson held their own against Bonham and Huff. Bowser did OK against Champion. It was Keesler and Weiland that wore us out.

On offense only Smith and Anderson hit a reasonable % of their shots.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
