You got that right about the imaginary fouls. I don't know why the Refs usually call the game in the home team's favor, but it was blatant tonight. Coach Richey restrained himself admirably. Had I been the coach I would have gotten a technical and we would have lost. HaHa.

The 2nd half was painful to watch. We are our own worst enemy. Too many turnovers. Poor shooting. We are lucky we won against one of the worst teams in D1 bb.
Thankful that we won. I hope that we will play better at home!

Yep has to be the worst we’ve played all year. Citadel is really bad. Will be interesting game when they play WCU. Citadel was 1-9 from the line in OT. Hien played the entire OT, why didn’t they foul him? Johnston has been playing in the final minute or 2. BTW refs were bad but we got the benefit of some bad calls too.

Just a couple of things to add; when did they do away with the shooter flop rule? Citadel #2 was dropping on every shot he took with no contact. Thought Citadel was playing a closer, more physical defense with their hands all over us. Not just on-ball D, but our cutters were often being held or diverted with body checks. We didn't get many calls. Loved Hughey's energy, but his motor was torqued to about 11. (I expect Bob may have told him to go in and mix it up). Four (legitimate) fouls in four minutes. I think he can add a LOT of value; just needs to bring it back a little bit. More controlled energy.

Citadel lost this game at the free throw line. Missed 17. 15-32 46.9%
I believe most of those were a "ball don't lie" situation.
Furman played bad. Citadel played bad. Both teams had much better nights than the officials. Embarrassing, even by SoCon standards.

I think sending The Citadel to the line was part of our strategy. It worked! They couldn't throw it in the ocean.

Ugly win, but I will take any win in Charleston. Looking back over the series history, we rarely win comfortably there.

It felt like a game where we jumped out to a nice lead and then sort of lost a lot of the intensity. The Citadel, to their credit, amped it up on the defensive end and even when we got clean looks the shots weren't falling. I was probably most disappointed by the unforced turnovers (losing the basketball, stepping on the line, etc.)

I'm still glad to know the program is at a point where we can play poorly and still win basketball games.

Agree pretty sure it was a one shot technical for flopping but it is definitely not being called.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
