CBI

I assume Furman would take the bid if they got one. Furman is still by far the highest rated SoCon team in both the netrankings and kenpom. Doubtful a bid would come since the NIT is not taking their usual 32 teans so that would leave a lot of available teams but if they just went by net rankings FU(#75) would be in the conversation. Teams will be announced Sunday night after the ncaa and nit. Just a thought.

FYI-no CIT this year but they plan to return next year.

I personally think we would do well in it. We are a talented team overall.

If there were a CIT or CBI this year, what would be the point of playing in it?
All I can think of is just more practice for the team and the opportunity to win 1 more game.
If we would win a couple of games, it might provide a little "prestige" and maybe a tiny amount of good publicity.
There would be expenses involved in playing in it which would outweigh any benefits, especially in this year.

I think it’s better to go into the off season with the memory of the VMI fiasco ending the season. We need motivation more than watered down redemption, don’t you think? If losing to those clowns doesn’t motivate them for the next several months, I don’t know what will. Our guys have got to get better.

FT% (D1 games only) per KenPom

this year - 72.3% (128th in D1)
last year - 70.4%
2 yrs ago - 72.3%
3 yrs ago - 70.6%
4 yrs ago - 70.6%
5 yrs ago - 69.6%

of course not a FTs are created equal but we were as good as we've ever been from the line...

But what if I don’t recall it that way?

Which takes precedence? My perceived general recollection or the actual statistics?

Pretty sure it should be the former.

There is no CBI this year.
Yes there is. Teams will be announced on Monday, Army is reported to be in.
Update, doesn’t look good, supposedly 5 of the 8 teams are known: Army, Coastal, Longwood, Bellarmine and Stetson. They must be struggling to get teams. Most of the above have winning records but Longwood is 12-16. 😳

The entry fee for the CBI is $50,000. I would be highly disappointed if we lowered ourselves to having to pay to play.

Well certainly the CBI is beneath a program that hasn't sniffed the NCAA in over 40 years. Although if memory serves correct, in the past several CBI games are on national TV . CBS I think. The fee may be less this year since there is only one venue.

We are an alternate for the NIT. I am not giving up on getting to play there.
