I like John W's starting five with Hein inside and Slawson outside, too. Both need to do a lot of off-season work. Hein on getting stronger. Slawson needs to work on getting stronger, too, along with improving his 3-point shooting. He's not bad but needs to be better if he is going to play there. Also, he needs to learn to finish around the basket with shots other than dunks. Especially needs to make some shots around the basket when he is fouled. Old-fashion 3-point plays.

I expect Hunter, Bothwell, and Gurley to all be better next year and they are all good now.

I also expect to see Anderson, Lawrence, and Foster to all be much improved next year. Anderson needs to work on getting stronger and work on his shooting. Lawrence on his body/getting stronger and his defense. He's already proved he can shoot the 3. Foster is a scrappy player who just needs some experience/playing time. Also needs work on shooting. I assume he was slowed by some injuries this year.

Pugh will be better too. He can shoot. I would expect him to be the first 2 guard off the bench.

Kinney is also a scrappy, good defensive player that needs improvement in shooting.

If coach wants to go with 3 guards at times I could see either Pugh, or Foster, (with improvement) starting.

So, I am optimistic about next year's team and think they could be better than this year's team.

In my opinion we had the talent this year but for some reason underachieved. Talent alone does not win games. The players have to play together. Coach call's this "playing connected." We were beaten several times this year by teams that had less "talent". And I don't know why.

It is Garrett Hien NOT Hein. Most keep butchering his name.

I am most worried about year after next when as we lose Hunter, Slawson, Gurley and Bothwell next year. That is unimaginable.

Maybe 15 years ago we had a guard who was horrible but finally his senior year he was a starter and fully reached his potential and was very good. But again for 3 years no one could have imagined him finally reaching his potential his senior year. It was remarkable. Hopefully that same story will apply to some of our current players.

^^^This. There’s a lot of unknowns in the starting 5 for the 2022 season. Can’t afford to lose all of the momentum that started with Croone and Sibley teams.

Talent has always been there but this year lacked consistency. Any of the starting 5 could go off for 20 points a night, we just couldn’t keep that going across games and never had “that guy” who could be trusted with the last shot EVERY game.

I'll think about joining your concern next February. Until then we've got to worry about how to close-out games.

Saturday night we saw IMHO Furman's all-time worst choke. Especially in a game that matter. It was almost impossible to lose that game but we did. To VMI for goodness sake. I think this team never recovered from blowing the Alabama game. How will they react to blowing FU's best chance to make the tournamet since forever in unbelievable fashion?

With Hunter returning, the roster appears to be as follows:

Alex Hunter Sr. g
Noah Gurley R-Sr. f
Mike Bothwell Sr. g
Jalen Slawson Sr. f
Jaylon Pugh Sr. g
Robert Swanson Sr g
Ben Beeker Jr. f
Colin Kennedy Jr. g
Rett Lister Jr. g
Marcus Foster R-So. g
Jonathan Lawrence R-So. f
Garrett Hien So. f
Joe Anderson So. g
Alex Williams Fr. f
Tyrese Hughey Fr. f
JP Pegues Fr. g
James Lee Repass Fr. f

We'll miss Mounce deeply, but that looks like a pretty solid roster.

Expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised. Like the Villanova game.
So you only get 15 players, and only 13 on the bench dressed out. So..

-who are the two you cut?
-who are the two that don’t dress?

Turns out the xfer of Tre Clark was pretty huge. Dins needed a lock down defensive specialist like Tre was. He could come in and provide a defensive spark.

Was hoping that Foster would develop into that and he did the few times he played but for some reason wasnt consistent

Dins could have used the ability to sub defense for offense there at the end but besides Foster didnt have anyone

This would be a great role for him next year

Remember st least a couple of those are walk ons including Beeker. Also I would be shocked if at least a couple of the incoming are not red-shirted.

Looks like there is one Sr and 3 Jr’s who never play. Let them play a one on one or horse tournament to see who stays.

I’m getting sick again watching ESPN’s promos of the championship game tonight which we should have been in. I’ve got to get over it and let it go.

As I understand the rules, all players on this year's roster can stay an extra year.

Not everyone will want to, but it'd be good if a couple of next year's seniors to decide to stay a while longer.
