Uh-huh like that would ever happen. Even if it did why would you move etsu ahead of utc? Utc is in 4th ahead of etsu and beat them twice.

UNCG - if they win their last two games they finish in first place.
Furman - two wins and one UNCG loss and the Paladins finish first. A loss in either game leads to a third place finish.
Wofford - beat Furman and finish at least second; if UNCG also loses twice Wofford gets first place.
Chattanooga - locked into fourth.
ETSU - locked into fifth
VMI - depends on Mercer.
Mercer - two wins and the Bears get sixth place. Lose a game and VMI gets sixth and Mercer is seventh.
Citadel - locked into eighth.
Samford - ninth or tenth place - depends on WCU results
Western Carolina -finish tenth place unless they win last two - then they finish ninth.

Tya, UTC IS not locked into 4th and ETSU is not locked into 5th. If UTC loses at Mercer Wednesday and ETSU beats UNCG Saturday, ETSU 9-6 gets 4th and UTC 9-7 drops to 5th. If we lose both our games(heaven forbid) we fall all the way to 4th at 9-6 and lose the tiebreaker with etsu because they would be 2-0 against uncg. If both win and FU loses 2 we fall all the way to 5th. If we win either game we finish no worse than 3rd.

The Commissioner should let the regular season play out as planned. Every team knew the rules, the protocols and the tie-breaking system. I’ll say it again, all we had to do was to take care of business by beating VMI in Lexington. Had we done that, and then win our next 2 games, we would be regular season champs. If we don’t win the regular season, it’s on us. If we don’t win the tournament, it’s on us. We control our destiny every year in every sport. It’s that simple.

Yes. Even a pretty good team has an excellent chance of winning the rest of our regular season and tournament games. But if we are way, way, way better than pretty good winning those games shouldn’t really be much of a challenge. So while a skeptic like me might say our chances of running the table are down around 50%, everybody else SHOULD be feeling really confident. I don’t understand all the handwringing.

If we win them all but don’t win the regular season, who really cares? This year it has the Mother of all asterisks on it anyway.

To me even more disappointing losses were the WC and at Uncg games. We played terrible at uncg and still lost by 6. WC played really bad for 30 mins but we weren’t much better. Then the last 10 minutes they stepped up and we disappeared.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
