My question - Was the last 12 minutes a great defense effort by Furman or did ETSU run out of gas? Happy for the victory, an enjoyable game to watch with Furman strengthening its hold on first place in the conference.
Not to question CBR's assessment of the last twelve minutes of the game - if he says FU's defensive effort during that period was the key to victory, then I agree. But over the span of the entire game - and over the season to date - our defense has been, well, rather pedestrian. Our Field Goal Defense for that game was 45.6%, below our season to date of 43.5% which is 201st in the country.
It's nothing to panic about - overall last year our FG Defense was nearly identical at 43.7%, but that too was less than stellar 221st in the country and something CBR said he wanted to work on. The pleasant surprise this year has been our offensive production, which Mid-Major-Madness today observes "Bob Richey's Paladins have a top-50 offense on KenPom for the first time in program history".
