Last year NCAA D-1 teams had a 441-6 record vs non-D-1 competition. Here are the losses:
William Carey over Southern Mississippi - This violated the cardinal rule of non- D-1 scheduling. Never under any circumstances play a top NAIA D-1 team. They have top D-1 prospects that don't meet the NCAA's so called "academic standards"
St. Edwards (TX) over UTSA- Cardinal rule #2 never play a top ranked D-2 team. #4 in the nation in D-2 had to be favored in this one. Their summer trip this year was to Australia to play 4 pro teams. Red flag !
Loyola (LA) over McNeese St.- Another NAIA nightmare. Couple that with a local rivalry and you might be looking for a new AD.
Lincoln (PA) over Morgan St.- Don't mess with D-2 schools from Pennsylvania
NW Nazarone over Idaho- Idaho basketball ?
Fayetteville St. over UNC-Asheville- Not even a good loss for a Big South "bottom feeder".
The top 100 teams in the NET final rankings were a combined 39-0 with the four SoCon teams accounting for more than 25% of the total wins at 10-0.
