• 2019 Offensive Line

At the spring game - the position group that had one of the largest crowds watching and looking on in awe was the offensive line. For the next two years, it's hard to think of another SoCon team or FCS school for that matter that rivals the experience and ability of what Coach Lusk and Hendrix have built in two years. WOW! Maybe someone else has the time but I'm betting the starts and snaps of the OL two-deep is already impressive and Furman only has one senior offensive lineman.

Top Five
Andy Godwin SR OT 6-4 281
Jordan Harris JR OG 6-4 288
Cole Neely JR C 6-3 273
Reed Kroeber JR OG 6-4 286
Bo Layton JR OT 6-7 287

Ross Detamore SO OT 6-4 263 - could challenge to start
Caleb Auer JR OT 6-3 266 - could challenge to start
Cody Wyatt JR OT 6-2 268
Bo KcKinney SO OG 6-7 307 - has starting experience
Anderson Tomlin RSFR OG 6-5 275

Evan Jumper FR C 6-4 240 - looks like he will be Neely's backup as a true freshman
Jacob Johanning FR OG 6-3 260 - could earn a spot on two-deep deep at guard
Dan Dodd FR OG 6-4 285 - could earn a spot on two-deep deep at guard
Person Toomey FR OT 6-3 250
Nick Vivona FR C 6-3 315 - PWO
Wyatt Hughes FR OG 6-4 290 - PWO
Jackson Soapes FR OT 6-2 280 - PWO

Astro - Agree with you PROVIDED the Freshman turn out to be as good as advertised and they develop physically and skill wise as we would hope they would. We have a strong starting 5 (of 4 are Jr's) but outside of that the rest of the depth is basically all Fr (RS or True) outside of McKinney. Hope you're right about Detamore.

Still, if they do develop I feel really good about our OL for the next 4 years. When the Jr's graduate after next year they should have a bunch of RS-Soph's stepping into their shoes....

If this group stays healthy, will be one of our best kept secrets. Could see major production out of them.

OR maybe not. Not a pretty sight at those stats.
It was a double-entendre...as in, at that height I hope we can see him. #DadJoke

Well, I think you also have Auer who, I believe, is a utility man across the line. Tomlin saw some time last year as a true freshman and you have to wonder if he wouldn't have seen more if the redshirt rules were different.

The good news is we have 5 quality starters, solid backups, and guys waiting in the wings. That's just what you want.

That gives us 11 OL men in the rotation. Very good depth. IF Bo McKinney makes as much progress this season as he did last, he will be a starter. This kid is a fine athlete and has real pro size potential. Before he was injured in the spring session, he was getting lots of first line snaps at practices.

This group will emerge to be the strength of this team in my opinion
Good gracious yes.

Not only a talented group, but having depth and experience up front is going to do wonders for a likely freshman QB.

an interesting side here is the guys that have been a. coached up by our new OL coaches vs. b. our guys that have been both recruited and coached by the new coaches. If I recall the guys who Hendrix recruited for his type OL would be true Juniors or R-Soph this year.

I am excited to see our OL improve (no slight to anyone!) but I think it will be interesting to see CH recruits ... these would be:
Top Five
Andy Godwin R SR OT 6-4 281 -recruited by prior admin. doing well
Jordan Harris R-JR OG 6-4 288 -recruited by prior admin. doing well
Cole Neely true JR C 6-3 273 - a CH recruit pressed into early service and doing well
Reed Kroeber R JR OG 6-4 286 -recruited by prior admin. doing well
Bo Layton R JR OT 6-7 287 - -recruited by prior admin. doing well

Ross Detamore R SO OT 6-4 263 - could challenge to start - a CH recruit
Caleb Auer R JR OT 6-3 266 - could challenge to start -recruited by prior admin. doing well
Cody Wyatt R JR OT 6-2 268 -recruited by prior admin. doing well
Bo KcKinney R SO OG 6-7 307 - has starting experience - - a CH recruit

It needs to be with such a young QB .. I hope our QB is awesome but that 's an experience position (QB). We saw the difference this year w Roberts in or out. It was a sizable diff. so OL (run game and protection) would really really really help !

Wasn't sure where to post this but Dan Dodd incoming freshman offensive lineman appears to be setting records and winning weightlifting competitions. Dodd is a big dude… 6-4 285 Found his numbers - it's pretty cool to see Coach Bernardi engaging with Dodd in the comments and excited to get him on campus. His numbers were 715 total, 380 bench, 335 clean & jerk. I'm humbled I feel good about myself doing 60-pound clean and jerks.
