" The Paladins (2-6, 1-3 Southern Conference) could not overcome the big mistakes like turnovers and all the little mistakes like multiple low snaps to the quarterback sprinkled along the way. In Furman's six losses this season, it's lost 17 turnovers and forced four - two against William & Mary and two against Western Carolina."

Forced FOUR turnovers... I didn't realize it was that low.

It's been hard to get interceptions when your back is to the ball. However, coverage has been improving and I have sympathy for the state of the D. The wild thing is we knew even coming into the season (that's before we've lost like probably 6 players that would have been in the mix) that we would struggle on the back end and had a hunch that the offense would need to be a high points offense. We have the weapons and serviceable enough OL to be a rapid fire offense. Starts with what's between the ears of the Center, read the D, make the blocking scheme call, a good crisp snap to the QB and 1.5 to 2.5 (watch VMIs first drive) seconds to make a quick read on short ins, outs, crossers, hot passes, button hooks, slot receiver, flats, wheels, etc...then pop a long one with more odds to 1.

So many of the RPOs could have been pulled and the QB run off the end. It's not even a threat to the D. I went back with my stopwatch on the VMI game. The OL was providing sufficient time for the passing game. We just need a plethora of high percentage passes. We saw a few with a boot to the TE, RB in flat, TE in flat.

This should be the time for the coaches to see who is the program going to be built on. Despite the adversity, who shows up early, who stays late to make sure the locker room is better than they found it, who is holding team meetings to dig deep. You have to have the glue.

Bold 1. YES

Bold 2. YES

Bold 3. YES

you caused me to realize with the 10 or so turnovers we have taken TOTAL all year? That’s horrific. Horrible. That it must be what? 3 Fumbles we have recovered ALL YEAR. Is that right?
YES. WE HAVE RECOVERED THREE FUMBLES this year. Three. I just checked. One at William and Mary. Two vs Western Carolina. That’s it. You would think random chance - helmet hits ball. Bad handoff. Do other teams not drp the ball. Random chance should lead to 10-12 fumbles by opponents and we would get 5 or 6 minimum by just being in the field. Crazy. Does no other team drop a handoff ? Or drop the ball when we hit the receiver. Sure we aren’t hitting the QB as much this year or getting in the backfield but still just general hits and action should have any team recovering at least 6 or so by now
