VMI Reflections

Evan taking into account VMI's defensive deficiencies, THAT was the Furman offense we have been looking for all year. Furman is clearly a different team with Harris Roberts healthy and at QB. VMI can score and has been close in many of their losses. Our defense made sure they were never in the game today. Great job by the entire D.
Adrian Hope has an unbelievable nose for the football. This kid could be an All American. Our D backs punished VMI receivers all game. Some huge hits today. Amir Trapp played his best game. Jordon Willis a big disruptor also.
Speaking of future All Americans, Devin Wynn is growing into a tremendous weapon both as a runner and receiver. Carson Maples is knocking the cleats off people out there. HR was near flawless. Great to see Jake Walker with two TD's. This kid has been blocking his tail off all season and deserves big kudos. A TE with the speed he showed to go on a long TD run after the catch is a big time weapon. The VMI announcers were amazed at the number of Furman players who not only touch the ball but have the ability to light it up. Very hard to defend for anyone when hitting on all cylinders. Did you see the hole the O line made on Wynn's up the middle TD run? Best job all year.
Looks to me like Furman is peaking at just the right time, considering the renewed playoff outlook. Barring key injuries, this team could very easily be 7-2 right now with a lock on the SoCon title. But they are a part of football and the important thing is that the team perserved thru them. Now go beat Mercer and hope the selection committee does the right thing.
