A really good and insightful interview.
Interested to hear that, contrary to last year, Furman has hit a lot more in practice this spring and summer to try and speed up the experience reps. They did not need to do that as much the last two years because of the number of players with a lot of experience on the team.
Sounds like our offense has the potential to be pretty electric. He indicated the RB room is probably more explosive than last year's group, that was really banged up most of the year.

It is obvious that he likes this team a lot. It sounds like we have a very talented team, which will soon have some game experience.
It is hard to overstate what Clay has done with this program. We are very fortunate.

Also - and he makes a good point - Hendrix noted the way that the schedule sets up will benefit us from the "experience" front.
Furman doesn't play its first SoCon game until September 28. Furman will have four non-conference opponents before we see the first conference opponent.
For those worried about "experience," by the time Samford rolls in six weeks from now, this team will have hundreds of snaps under their belt and multiple starts.

The vibe I get listening to the coaches is that last year's team was incredibly deep from an experience standpoint, but we essentially knew what we were getting.
This team sounds like it could be more explosive and just as talented. They just need the game reps.

And as he said, as great as Tyler was at making plays with his feet- teams were not worried about a great deep ball and loaded the box a lot. It sounds like that may be a dangerous strategy against us this year.

It’s no secret that our inability to throw deep last season was our Achilles heal. We won a lot of games with Huff as our qb. Getting to the next level will require our offense to be more explosive. Doesn’t mean we have to air it out…we just need to connect on the long ball. Astro and I discussed this Saturday. Too many games last year ended as head scratchers because we couldn’t connect on those back breaker plays.

Under Hendrix, Furman has lacked some of the talent at QB to really force teams out of the box.
This group looks to have the arm talent and receivers who can snag it.
