1) House Settlement - Roster limits vs. Scholarship Limits and the apparently HUGE expansion of “allowable” athletes in almost every sport ….

“According to a Yahoo Sports calculation, there are about 500 scholarships available in all sports in the current NCAA model. Under the new roster limits, that number is now at more than 1,200.”

What does this mean, if anything, for Furman Athletics, FCS Football, and specifically, Furman Football?

2) Same basic question about this…

The attorneys general of Montana and South Dakota are contemplating taking legal action to challenge aspects of the House v. NCAA settlement deal.

“The settlement is unfair to Montana universities,” a spokesperson for Montana attorney general Austin Knudsen said. “We are looking into what legal actions we can take.”

The state’s two Division I universities, Montana and Montana State, compete in the FCS-level Big Sky Conference, while South Dakota has two D-I FCS schools that compete in the Summit Conference.

A spokesperson for South Dakota attorney general Marty Jackley said his office is also “looking at available options regarding the NCCA lawsuit and settlement.”

As drafted, the settlement would require the non-power conference schools—such as those in Montana and South Dakota—to give up $990 million in NCAA distributions, over the next decade, in order to pay NIL “back damages” that would primarily go to former power-conference football and basketball players.

Does Furman’s football success and subsequent increased exposure for Furman have any beneficial effects on their budget?

Also 100% the contemplated 2-state lawsuit (or 2 lawsuits, 1 per state) by Montana and South Dakota. I expect ND would also join in & make it 3 states suing.
Would South Carolina’s AG follow on behalf of the 9 Division 1 schools in this state? (More Division 1 schools here than the 6 involved in those 3 Plains states combined.)

Affirm, of course not. I am sure the SC AG thinks there are only 2 football playimg colleges in the state like most everyone else. Remember in Montana, SD and ND FCS football is the only game in town.

I inow I sound like a broken record but we only have 2 FBS games after this year. In the past we have had these games 5-8 years out. The last FBS game announcement was shortly after you came to FU, 5 years ago. Second question is will we have a power team visit Timmons when it opens like every other smaller school has had when they open a new plwce.
TIA

Why is our Sept. 7 game vs CSU kicking off at 6 PM instead of the traditional 7:00 start? It's going to be hot as Hades at 6.

Will there be a place to buy day of game tickets at PS this year for walk-ups?
