Starting QB this upcoming season?

Heddon or Jones starting? My money is on Heddon. But it wouldn’t surprise me if we see snaps split 50 50

It's going to be interesting. Don't have a lot of starting reps between the options, but the group is arguably as deep and talented as it's been in a while.

I hope one wins the job. Not a fan of splitting snaps and I don’t think CCH is either.

I doubt we will see a two QB system at Furman.
My early money on starting QB is Carson Jones.
Hedden appears talented, but I have reservations about relying on a true freshman QB. There's a big jump between playing QB in high school, where you may have been the best athlete on the field, and doing the same thing the next season against D1 defenses.
What I've learned over the years watching young QBs is that you take the good with the bad. You'll have some games where they look outstanding. There are some games where they look terrible. I think Furman is at a point with the program where consistency is more valuable than a high ceiling and a low floor each week.
I think you saw that last year with Carson Jones. Jones looked absolutely fantastic against VMI and then struggled against Wofford the next week.
We saw the same thing with Darren Grainger a few years early. He'd have some amazing performances and then a week or two later the offense looked like it was moving in quicksand.
My thought is they will go with the more experienced player who likely provides the most consistency at this point. Jones has plenty of talent, he's now in his third year in the program and Coach Roper's offense.
He was already at 56% completion percentage last year with now 8 games under his belt. Just for comparisons sake, Darren Grainger never broke 50% completion percentage during his two years at Furman and then exploded his third year (at Georgia State)

Yep, it’s Jones’ job to lose.
There was soooo much groaning on here in the years between Blaze and Huff because we were forced to throw underclassmen at the QB position. CCH is not going back down that path unless Jones is an absolute bust.

Oh its Carson. Yet, please note there are seven QBs on Furman's roster. Seven.

17 wide receivers, too.

I did the math somewhere a year or two ago, but attrition killed Furman's depth at QB for a period of time.
Even as late as the 2022 pre-season, Furman was still in flux at the position.
This may be the first season in Hendrix's tenure where he's got three scholarship home-grown signees at QB. For whatever reason, there has been a lot of transition at that position for Furman.

Don’t discount Garcia. I think we have solid young depth.

I think CJ will get the nod at least at he start of the seasom. Just hope he can take a hit.

Here's a clip of both mobility and ability to take a hit.
He's not the runner that Huff is. He has escapability and keeps his eyes downfield. That's going to make defenses think twice about pressuring him.
VMI puts nearly everyone on the line on 3rd and 6. Brings 6 man pressure. Jones climbs the pocket, escapes, keeps his eyes downfield, takes a hit, and throws a dime for a first down while on the run.

That was more like a bump than a hard hit. The question is can he or another QB take mulitple hard hits game after game.

Other than coming up with something to be negative about, what's the point of the question?
No QB (or, at least, very few) is going to be successful taking "multiple hard hits" every game. The point is for them not to take hits.

It’s just APs way of insulting every offensive lineman on the team and the OL coach.

It won’t matter who starts at QB there will be some on here who will complain.
