My son just reminded me about this wonderful weekend in Chapel Hill.

I was there. Julius Peppers was their all-American defensive player. I remember the UNC band played our fight song before the game. Afterwards, I suggested to a band member that they should have played it during the game, since they didn't have many opportunities to play their own.

That was an A$$ whooping!
Lots of similarities in the formations from that game and the formations we're running today.
Louis Ivory and Des Kitchens were explosive.
Thinking back on that game — lost in the offensive fireworks was the play of Will Bouton.

Still makes me glow everytime I see or think about this game. Was there at NC State when we beat them back to back '84 '85. Hate to live in the past but those were glory days.

Anyone notice a few similarities between that offense and what we are currently running?

Agree the play action passes were based off our run based options very much like today's version. Todays version certainly brings a lot more offensive sets and looks for the defense to think about. Good stuff.

It's been a long time since we've had a day like that, against one of the big boys. I don't count the UCF game. The UNC game was a beat down; the UCF game was a squeak by.
