Maybe that was too much pressure for the team, especially CJ. Did anyone think of that?
This is not the comforting perspective that you think it is.

Attendance today was 3,700

SoCon football stinks...
It's basically 32 miles from Travlers Rest to Spartanburg, if the attendance was on 4k, I'd say it's as much or more Furman fans' fault. Wofford had nothing to play for and their fans had given up on the team several games ago. Where were the Furman fans? Maybe Furman football stinks...

Pipe down little maggot, I am clearly calling out both fan bases ;)

Oh and your school Western community college still has 0 championships, talk about stinks

If you don't compete at the top level then most folks just don't care, thats the facts...
FCS ball just does not get many folks excited around here...
Its the reason the entire student section is gone after halftime, they just don't care about this level of football even when we are ranked #2....
A hard truth but a fine summary, I think.

We averaged around 10,000 fans per game with our opponents bringing a couple hundred at best. This from a school with a 2,500 student enrollment. I think the Athletic Department has done a great job with fan experience and as Greenville continue to grow we have a chance to attract casual fans like the ones who attend Drive games.

While there are a billionty-billion different variables feeding into (city size, weather, student’s hometown’s, visiting teams’ following, et cetera ad infinitum e pluribus unum) the numbers, a reasonably “fair” measure of ‘support’ (which could also have a bilionty-billion different definitions) would be Avg Attendance/Enrollment Ranked. Anyone have those all those figures handy for all SoCon Schools/Teams?

Using FU3’s ‘SWAG’ here, we can see that FU’s ‘Support’ ratio is 4.0 (same as FUBeAR’s GPA) and just with a quick/dirty interweb scan, FUBeAR finds enrollment at WCU is ~12k w/Avg Attendance of ~10k … so that’s a support ratio of .833 for the Cantamounts.

So, FU’s support ratio is about 5x better than WCU’s … sounds about right and aligns with also having a Football Team that is 5x better than WCU’s.

So...this article just came out... https://herosports.com/fcs-football-202 ... ders-bzbz/
- FUBeAR saw it and figured somebody wanted FUBeAR to 'formalize' these numbers and the article already did half the work...So, a quick spin through Mr. Google and using College Navigator for all enrollment data, FUBeAR has produced the SoCon 'Support Ratio' Rankings...No surprises

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
